That cockpit is tasty! How much engine will be visible? Thank you kindly! I'm thinking the left side of the engine, as I really like the prominent intake for the supercharger.

Oh that is some really incredible work. This is awesome! I hope we're able to see part of that engine once you start sticking more parts onto it. Thank you kindly! So far, it's going together far better than m1Carbine's 1/48 version. I am hoping to make some of the engine visible. I just need to see how the front end fitment goes.

This is really coming along nice! The engine looks to have some really nice detail to it. This bird has the wing span of a Condor doesn't it.. Thank you kindly! If one were to build up a maintenance dio, this would go rather nicely. That's what I thought about the wing span when I first started working on it.

What a gorgeous cockpit and engine...I want this kit!❤️ Thanks to tucohoward, his SBS on his build served and bouys and channel markers for me to navigate my build more easily. I have enjoyed the build thus far. For a neophyte? Oh heck no! Start off with Tamiya or something similar.

The last couple of days, I was able to make a fair bit of progress on the 152. The internals of the wings received some color, and are mounted to the fuselage, as is the engine assembly. Thanks to tucohoward , I was able to side step some of the pitfalls that he pointed out. Thank you! The red and blue you see are tinted cement. I helped me greatly to make sure I had coverage in certain areas. The housing for the cannon barrel has since been painted a darker metallic color. The leading edges were a bit finicky to get seated. It turned out that the lip on the upper aft edge was never molded properly. I recreated the lip with some fine chisels to get it to seat properly. The wings and engine are now permanently mounted. The engine assembly mated up perfectly with the engine bearer points, and there are four points underneath that all lined up perfectly. Now to see how the windscreen and cowlings mate up.
Cheers Dave

Jeeez!! This is looking swell so far. Looks like you got this one to cooperate very well so far Dave. The Jumo 213 in these kits is drop dead gorgeous with all the details that it has. I was floored that it had more details than the Aires Jumo 213 that I had acquired for the one I'm building. I'm definitely looking forward to the next updates on this one.

Have a "few" kits under my belt helps, and certainly the SBS provided by tucohoward was invaluable. . The level of injection molding that being produced in the last few years is mighty impressive. I've test fitted the horizontal stabilizers, and with the snug fit at the fuselage, also with the interface between them internally, one almost does not need glue to secure them. With this fitment, they are square to the fuselage. Bonus!

The horizontal stabs are mounted. They are such a snug fit, one could likely get away without glue. I wasn't feeling that adventurous, so I glued them. The three piece cowl assembly is only dry fitted. I'm still working out how I want to display the engine.... Until then, I am puttering around on other assemblies.

I did find a reference pic from the Smithsonian of their Ta-152. The left and right cowl panels are hinged to swing upwards. It was good to have a reference to confirm what I had suspected. So, with some extra work, I may be able to display some of the engine!
Cheers Dave

The forward cowl ring and annular radiator have been painted. I am only planning on light chipping as this type was not in service for very long until V-E day. After I snapped these pics, I glued on the top cowl, that runs from cowl ring to windscreen. Upon dry fitting the cowl ring assembly, I noticed a bit of a gap between the upper cowl and the louvered panel between the cowl flaps. Fortunately the glue on the prop shaft and boss had not yet set up. I peeled them free of the engine. I'll go back after the glue has dried and, ever so carefully, file down the mating surface for the prop shaft and boss. It'll be less than 2mm of material to be filed down. It's the simplest approach to correct the fit. Cheers Dave

With the work I got done today, I may prop up both panels. We shall see how the correction that needs to be done will turn out.

Excellent!! Sure would be cool to be able to check out some of that engine Thank you kindly! I am hoping the correction I need to perform to get the cowl ring to set back less than 2mm allows me to leave the side panels open. If I can, I am thinking about popping them both open.

Here's my solution to the problem. The louvered part that the instructions tell you to use looks to be ever so slightly shorter. Now, I didn't mic them out because that wasn't going to help me solve my problem at hand. Instead, I trimmed the back end off the part that was not used and grafted it to the part already in place. With any luck, I haven't created more problems for myself down the road. Now, the piece I grafted on will need to be sanded down, ever so delicately. It'll be roughly less than half the thickness you see in the pic. In the mean time, I have placed this assembly to the side to give the glue ample time to cure. Cheers Dave
