Fantastic work on the decals. Printing errors aside they really look good Thank you kindly. After the decals on the Border Stuka, these were a welcome relief. I am contemplating making stencils for Blue 9. We shall see. Cheers Dave

Looking really good! Interesting removable panels - hadn't seen that before. Thank you kindly! It’s a nice option to have. When I do attach them, after weathering is completed, I’ll affix them on the hinge side. Seems a shame not to showcase the internal detail. Cheers Dave

It's starting to look more like a finished aircraft now. After all the errands and tasks to be done before the close of the day, I was able to get in some bench time. Getting it closer to the finish line. I drilled out the gun camera port and punched out a 1.5mm clear styrene to fabricate the protective camera cover. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/GtJbk8wB/IMG-2639.jpg) The inner gear doors are now hard mounted. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/SxKmMxZs/IMG-2640.jpg) Flaps are now a permanent fixture. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/0NMxVH11/IMG-2641.jpg) The prop is also now mounted. A wee bit of clean up is needed. I'll come back to it with a brush dampened with mineral spirits. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/2SXrFNJx/IMG-2642.jpg) Some light weathering on the bird. Still more to do. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/rsckFV0q/IMG-2643.jpg) I gave the wheel wells a light dusting ![](https://i.postimg.cc/43DGqbX7/IMG-2645.jpg) The engine compartment got a bit of weathering as well. More to come. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/FR0v4dKP/IMG-2646.jpg)
Cheers Dave

I really like the way you approached the weathering to this. The chipping looks fantastic Thank you kindly. I figured that this bird didn't fly long enough to warrant the paint getting beat to crap. Like some war weary bird. There will be oil and fuel staining, and other indicators of grubby hands doing maintenance. Also sooting from poor quality fuel. Cheers Dave

Camo / paint work on this is looking great Dave. I really like the attention to detail that you're putting into this build as there's just so much in the box to work with not to. Are you going to display the engine panels open or closed?

Closing the right one to give an idea of the lines of the aircraft. The nose of the aircraft is impressive when it’s buttoned up, but I do want to show the engine, as it’s a kit unto itself.

Such a tight looking aircraft and you're depicting it very well so far Dave. How are you doing the streaking and weather splotching on the outside surfaces? Beautiful work man....... nice!! Thank you kindly Joe! The streaking is done with AK weathering effects, distilled white mineral spirits, and several types of brushes. I reworked the streaks a few times to tone them down. Too stark looking at the start. I also used Mig Pigments with the same mineral spirits. These got worked around with the same brushes as earlier. The splotching is done with a splatter tool. ak-interactive.com/product/splatter-tool/ I used to used tooth brushes for this, sometimes I still do. This, in my opinion, does a bit better job of it. I am sure there are a few things that still need tending to, but first, I've gotta get my chore list taken care of today. After I clear the bench of this build, I can get back to the Stuka base work with pilot figure. THEN, on to the Felixstowe for the Large GB. Cheers Dave

The weathering is far more reserved than what I usually do, save for the sooting exhaust. Poor fuel quality towards the end of the war. It's not war weary. It wasn't around long enough for that.

I'm going to have to check that splatter tool out man. You are most welcome Joe. So far, I has been a pretty handy tool. I've got a 1/32 Tamiya Spitfire IXc that I never finished the weathering on the underside, because I could not decide how to go about it. Now I do. And then there's the Stuka vignette that needs completing before undertaking the Felixstowe vignette/dio. Cheers Dave

I wanted to give a better representation of exhaust sooting on the dark portion of the cowls and fuselage. So I hit the dark area on the cowl with some AK Ultra Flat. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/FHGtXsZ7/IMG-2661.jpg) And this was the effect it gave me. It's subtle in person, but one can see it. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/C5btPF5M/IMG-2656.jpg)

Are you planning on a heavy layer of staining or keeping it light?

Are you planning on a heavy layer of staining or keeping it light? There is some sooting (crappy late war fuel quality, and not enough of it). Overall, the weathering and staining is going to be kind of light.
