For one, those decals that you applied one at a time over the vents is just nuts!! Secondly the amount of detail work that has gone into this thing is pretty dang amazing as is your efforts in keeping everything together in the assembly process. As far as the mirrors go, it looks a little off but certainly not to the point that it's a deal breaker. This is one heckuva build Paul and your work / efforts on this are to be commended in every way. Thank you Joe This is such a great build my friend, very intriguing .. it pulls me in to watch Thanks Adrian. Years ago I had found a color chart that had a mix ratio for Tamiya paint that had most of the major racing car colors on it. The formula for Gulf orange was 16:1 orange to red. So I mixed up a small batch and painted the intake covers. Of course, the mix was for the Tamiya X series paint, but it seemed to work just as well with the LP series. 1137

Paul, Oh WOW!! Boy did you nail that color mix. Those intake covers look absolutely dead on. Does the kit come with those fabric straps?
BTW, any chance of posting that Tamiya mixing chart?

Picture perfect color match! I saw the Steve Mcqueen Porsche 917k on Mecum today with the same Gulf paint job and thought of this build.

That color mix up is pretty much spot on Paul. Just beautiful work across the board and such attention to the minutest of details.

Paul, Thanks for that paint conversion list. I've added to my modeling favorites in 3 different places. Hopefully I'll remember at least one of them when I need a custom mix.

Just how fast does a car need to be to use strapping to hold down the aircleaners? Asking for a friend.
Anywho, this is looking awesome. You colors are spot on and the details are amazing.

Thanks for the compliments Brandon. From looking at my reference pics, I believe its a rubber type strap. Kind of like you would see holding down batteries in motorcycles. Makes for quick removal and servicing.

Thanks John Those straps came out great, I bet it did take some time to get it right. Thanks Chris. They were a little challenging. I cut several strips off that were too wide and had to redo them. Just imagining strapping into this low-slung swingset and screaming off to 200 mph plus! Wow!! Agreed on the straps! Super nice. Thanks Kyle. I would love to give one of these a go on a proper racetrack. Some more wonderful detail you've added right down the the harness set's attachment points! Thanks Brent. becomes a work of art beautiful and sleek work Thank you Ron. After churning out 3 builds in 2 months, it seems my modeling mojo is in need of a re-charge. I haven't been at the bench quite as much as I had in July and August. But I did manage to get to the windscreen. I usually mark just outside of the ridge that's on the vacu-form. Then I cut along that mark. Then it's a very tedious time slowly sanding down to the right place. Just a matter of fitting, then sanding, then re-checking, then sanding....etc. Once I'm satisfied with the fit, I glue in one rivet at a time. 1468

Paul, you are the master of vacuform. That looks incredibly good. It looks amazing with the rivets. Hear you on the modeling mojo. Between work, the work on the house and other honey do things I haven’t even felt like sitting down at the bench. Maybe when things simmer down a little.

Paul, The instrument panel really looks good, but holy Cow the steering wheel actually looks like you found a way to shrink the real one down to 1/12 scale. I just can't get over how the stitching looks. Must be how the light reflects off of it, but it looks like separate stitching not just bumps on the wheel if you get my poor attempt at describing how it looks to me.
As for the mirror, ok, all of our it looks just fine or close enough, just wasn't good enough for you, and a reshoot proved us wrong and you right. Looks absolutely a perfect match now.
