Guys- Short update... not much on the bird. WHY? Boys had friends spent the night here... five boys in total and they like to sleep in the basement where my bench is. They managed to get one of our dogs dressed up for the sleep over... But managed to work on the Tiggy base then have the cockpit primed. Used Vallejo black primer and I have to say I like it so far... Just to give you an idea how this kit is... I haven't dealt with a Dragon kit that bad. Every part requires plenty of trimming and sanding like this... maybe because it was done back in 1995 but none of Imperial kits were that bad like this... More to come... thanks for looking my friends!

Zeke- Thanks! Awesome about doing some research. Hope you saw two links I posted earlier... great walk around pictures of the Little Birds. They will help me paint it when I am done with my Tiger build.
Steve- Hey! I hope I can do it right with the faded black... wish me luck! LOL Thanks for stopping by!
Can't wait to resume my work on the Little Bird as soon as I am done with the Tiger... maybe in few days!

Hey now, nice to see you're branching out into other arenas Andy! Your dog must have the patience of a saint. Stuff from the '90s from DML can be quite hairy...all depends on who they got the original molds from as to the quality of the re-pops they did.

Hey Bill! Thanks! Its nice to take a break from armors sometimes especially with much fewer part count like this rotory kit. I agree I was surprised it was not as good as typical kits even Imperial kits are better than this. Maybe I have been lucky until just now.
I only have one real old Dragon kit... Nashorn #6001 Is it the first or second kit released by Dragon back in 1992? I brought it on eBay for only $30 but it comes so loaded with 3 or 4 PE sets and an aluminum barrel from Lion Roar. Now I can't decide if I should build that #6001 or buy a better kit and use those great AM stuff... decisions, decisions, decisions...

It's a dog of a kit...the reason it came with all that stuff is because that's what you need to fix all the problems! It was so bad that they had to create virtually a whole new kit to deal with the backlash...I forget the exact kit number that was its replacement, but it was in the early 6000's.

I am so glad I asked!!! One of the PE set that came with the kit is for Dragon kit #6314. So I will add it to my wish list... maybe I will have luck at upcoming model shows. Regarding #6001 it will be a perfect candidate for heavily damaged build. Somebody has to make our boss happy you know? Thanks again Bill!!!

Abort mission! Abort mission! I repeat abort mission! We have been detected... we lost our element of surprise! Crap! I was hoping to build undetected... LOL Yep, I like to build those rotary things once a while... it is a good way to help me maintain my mojo. Actually it was my good friend's fault... she asked me to build a Huey for her husband who flew it for 14 years in the Army last year for his 50th birthday and he LOVED it. My first build commission and I had FUN!!! It even brought home a gong from the show too. So I promised myself I should build one once a while... this Little Bird is perfect candidate because of time constraint as show is coming up in 6 weeks. Sorry about the crappy picture... lighting in the gym was not great. Started it while the base was still in process of drying... will resume as soon as I am REALLY done with the Tiggy. LOL Thanks for stopping by boss!

Whaddya doin' postin' on here, quick get yer finger out man....yer've only built the office.....You started the Tiger in 1987 and that's still goin'.... LOLOLOLOL! Believe it or not... see that Huey build I posted earlier? Took me only seven weeks... so I think I can do it in six! Wish me luck... maybe we should wager a bet?

Hey Boo! Ain't it great when we have good friends here? Poor dog... it was not the first time... my boys like to dress him often for some reason.
Vallejo primer came from the eye dropper bottle... it was my first attempt using it and I loved it! Now wait and see how it catches the base coat and 'hold' it too... like I said earlier the jury is still out. In the past I usually use Mr Surfacer primer but too much cleaning so I will only use it for the outside parts only.

LOL! Actually I have been working on the Little Bird but nothing exciting to report. I snipped all parts off the sprues so they can be sanded and be ready for assemble when the RB gun barrels arrive. Done having too much fun with the Tiggy's base so its back to this now...

Haha! Obviously Hawaii is just a lay-over on route to the main event NEBRASKA!!!! Now that kind of trip would present some awful jet lag! I can say from first-hand experience though that Honolulu is the BEST place in the world to recuperate from jet lag. I once was forced (really tough decision too!) to overnight there on the last leg of a 2 week 28,000 mile total trip to points East and back to the states. Loved getting the chance to see Pearl Harbor and see the sights even if I didn't know what continent or time zone I was in any more at the moment!

Bill- LOL! For those who don't know me too well... I do better under pressure. One day my wife and I have to visit Hawaii... have to because I have been to 46 states with a trip planned to touch two more states leaving me only with Alaska and Hawaii to visit. Probably for my retirement... Dicky- Just wanted to review your travel itinerary. Non-stop flight from London to Hawaii for a layover flight to Indianapolis to catch a ride in a ten years old Chevy Impala car all the way to Omaha, Nebraska with unlimited stops at every BBQ place unexpectedly. And of course microbreweries too. Right?

LOL! You REALLY knows how to crack me up... thanks buddy! Nothing exciting to report... all parts have been cut and sanded which I haven't done before. I wasn't in mood to paint the cockpit... LOL It will be a quick build since all parts are clean and sanded when I have the mojo rolling again... Another example why this kit is a dog... rod was already bent when I bought it. Sawed off... Replaced with actual dress pin of course with its tip sanded down. Hope for exciting update next time... LOL

I'm with Prof, any update is great , especially as I'm keen to see the faded black , no pressure eh? These older Dragon kits can be challenging, my last one was the '262 in my gallery, nothing fitted anything But a file and hammer sorted it

Prof- Thanks mate!
Steve- Thanks for the head up! My last rotory build was a Dragon Huey UH-1D converted to UH-1H and it was a great kit... absolutely no fitting issue at all. Now with this... way the opposite... am nervous when it is time to put the halves together when the pit is painted and ready. LOL The body feels pretty soft and fragile...
I think I have a solid plan how to paint faded black paint. Can't wait...
Guys- Guess what has arrived all the way from Poland this morning?!?!? Will post a picture tonight...
