Right. Small start made to the frame. Very fragile, not easy to remove from the sprue without damage. Using some of profs soon to be patented Invisiglue, popped it all together. Some sanding and filling is necessary to sort the join lines but nothing a smear of Cyano and a sanding stick can't sort. Pic shows it up together with the swing arm duly plonked together, filled, sanded etc. Both primed. Now I need to understand the paint, instructions call for TS30 but i'm not 100% convinced, will investigate to see if I have a suitable alternative to hand.

Hi Dicky.
Yes, nice frame, quite intricate in parts, almost seems a shame to cover it up, in fact I'm considering displaying it naked so to speak.
As for colour, I was a true prof last night, huddled over jars of paint and thinners, mixing away trying to get what I consider is a good combo.
Marginal success, a 70/30 mix of chrome silver and titanium silver looks about right but they don't like to play together, you have to constantly mix it or they start to separate. That may cause probs with colour continuity so before I do anything I will pop into MZ today as I'm in town and see what they have.

Chaps. Thanks Leon. Dicky, no real revelations in MZ, I did however pick up a rattle can of Humbrol Chrome Silver which may do the job with a bit of toning down.

Hi Boo, yes, neat if fragile frame.
The chrome silver is pretty good, goes on pretty shiny, not chrome shiny but good all the same. Only small issue is it has a relatively slow curing time, touch dry quite quickly but doesn't 'go off' properly for quite a while.
Because of the fiddly, hard to get at areas, it would need to be decanted, applying to all but a few surfaces with rattle can would probably flood the part with paint.

Great start to a lovely looking build fella............kept seeing this on the go........and then kept scooting past it , was there nothing in the Alclad range that gave you a frame colour mate............??

Hey Boots.
I'm sure there is something in the Alclad range but I dismissed them on the grounds that the frame will be handled an awful lot after painting but before assembly is complete so it's likely to end up looking pretty naff. I need to try and find something a bit more resilient.

Famous last words mate! Hoped to have an update by now, it was all going quite well, mixed myself a colour for the frame which I was happy with, laid it on, looked good! Then, basking in the glory of my small achievement, I took another look at the instructions, oh s***, missed a cross brace when I was assembling the frame! Tried to retro fit it so to speak and ended up screwing up the paint. So currently the frame and swinging arm are enjoying a bath in Fairy Power Spray while I sit quietly and lick my wounds. Normal service will be resumed as soon as I can stop being stupid and acting like its the first kit I have ever built...

Chaps. Yes Boots, splendid timing sir. The mojo may be strong Tony it's just the brain that isn't at the moment! I have made some progress but not enough to post about, hope to have something when I next get a chance to model which will probably be Thursday.

Hi chaps. Yep, hasn't been a grand week but nevertheless, we press on. Here's where we are at, fuel tank assembled and painted, looks odd but don't forget, the NSR was groundbreaking and had the fuel tank slung under the engine to lower the center of gravity. After that, swing arm, hugger and suspension assembled, painted and thrown together. Apologies for the pic quality. More soon...

Hi Boo, hope everything went ok today.
To be honest I'm about 80% happy with it, after no less than three attempts, I pretty much lost the urge to do it again so settled for what you see.
If you bear in mind your viewing it much closer than you typically would then I guess it will do. Also bear in mind that much of what you see would be hidden...
