Chaps. Thank you for your continued support. Dicky, Tamiya do four stand alone engine sets in 1/6, Z1300, CX500 Turbo, CB750 and one other, I forget which. Hard to get in the UK and often more expensive than the full bike kit they originate from! Quick one for you. Engine sorted Right side showing clutch and ignition systems. Left side. Front showing exhaust ports and funky colour HT caps. And finally the rear showing the bank of four carbs. Mesh on the intakes is the final element of the detail up set. Off in pursuit of red wine...

Not wrong Boo, always a testing time. I will have a go tomorrow when the lint is good, it's held in with four screws 2.5mm long.

Chaps.
Boo, I have in the past tried to cover them up but with little real success, I just leave hem alone now or maybe simply apply a dab of an appropriate colour paint to take the shine off them. I notice that Hasegawa these days use styrene 'pins' with the correct bolt head pattern that you simply push into place, much better!
Hi Leon and Gary, thanks buddies, hope to post a pic of it in place today...
Boots, the plug caps are straight from the kit mate, just given a splash of Tamiya X-14 as per instruction.

Steve, DP, cheers chaps, progress is fiddly and slow due to the amount of painting involved. Ok, after a little bit of wiggling, the engine found its home today. Four teeny screws hold it firm. You just need to be careful to route the various pipes and cables correctly before you secure it. Cheers!

Just caught up on this build Prof! Beautiful work so far:) I don't know anything about motorcycles (unless you count the Kawasaki KD100) that I had as a kid, but this really looks great and your up details really add to it. I love the color on the exhaust pipes. Looks great:)

What an awkward engineering for the exhausts, it must have been a real PITA to drive it in hot climates... Great job, Mence, I really love the way it's turning

Hi DP. Following pic should answer ya question. Ok, rest of the bits popped on including footrests, front wheel, instruments, handle bars and lastly the fuel cell slung underneath the engine. As a point of interest, no less than 19 different pieces of vinyl tube have been used. Couple of pics... Next up, the bodywork....

Chaps. Boots, cheers mate, yes, you're right, only tiny prob I had was that the black tube showed a tendency to split when I slipped it over the pins, good job I had some older stuff from previous builds in the parts box. Dicky, , ya bang on, without her clothes she's MadMax all over! I was pondering doing this one naked but the fuel cell hides much of the engine so I won't bother. I have been pondering doing another Honda RC166 but have the seat and fairing off and using all the detail up sets to display it with some of Fujimi's workshop bits and pieces to create a sort of pit pre race scene, wouldn't be cheap but I'm sure it would look just fine! Hi G, thanks for dropping by buddy, appreciate your commenting , I look forward to seeing more of your work such as the Olds, do a blog for us? Ok, not a whole lot to look at but here we are so far, all the bodywork assembled, given a white primer base, semi gloss black inside and in the case of the front guard, a preliminary coat of Zero Honda Racing Red. Just for reference, there's a total of 10 parts used in the construction of these elements and even without primer, I challenge you to find the join seams, the fit is that damn good!
