Chaps. With the Oldsmobile going fairly well and the mojo feeling its best for a very long time I have decided I can't let Tamiya's new release sit on the shelf any longer.  I will do a brief background and a what's in the box over the next few days. |

It's what I prefer Leon, I have built more bikes on his forum than anything else.
Due to the unusual layout, this one is a little different so for me at least, it should be quite interesting.

Boo, there's about a dozen with detail up sets available so plenty of choice when ya good and ready!

Ok, very quick background. Developed as a successor to the V3 Two-Stroke NS500, the NSR500 designed and built by Honda Racing was aimed a putting Honda back on the podium. It looked the same as its racing rivals but only at first glance, with a fuel cell slung below the engine and a dummy fuel tank concealing the four expansion chamber exhausts, without its body parts fitted it was an incredible sight. The new V4 engine configuration offered bags of power although the frame wasn't entirely up to the job and underwent further development. With the bugs ironed out and in the right hands, the NSR was a true winner scoring 100 victories and taking 10 World Championships between 1984 and 2001. With significant changes to the regulations in 2002, 2001 was the swan song for the NSR when Valentino Rossi took the World Chamionship on the final variant. The Honda RC211 was the worthy successor to the throne but race fans will always have fond memories of the amazing V4 Honda...  |

Ok chaps, a quick what's in the box... Sprue A.  Sprue B.  Sprue C.  Bits and pieces.  Decals and Masks.  Usual great instructions and a two sided decal placement guide plus some very useful reference images.  About 200 parts including the tiny fixings, should be fun! |

Chaps. Cheers Leon, good to have you along. Hi Dicky. the half paint half decal thing is something Tamiya have used on a couple of their newer releases. Depending on how the urge takes me I may paint the blue as well, we'll see. As you rightly point out, the moulding is excellent, every release they make just gets better, really looking forward to this. The plus point for me is a one piece tank and front mudguard, no more filling and sanding. |
