I've been thinking about this for sometime and the urge to do these next is becoming overwhelming to resist. The Bossman's Nashorn thread has stirred the pot so these have been placed on top of the pile. Tony lee

Oooooh, very interesting. Seems like DML had the Nashorn market pretty well covered (4 or 5 different kits?)...what did AFV Club bring to the table that theirs didn't have?

We're going to find out together Dupes. As you can see the DML is a 3in1 kit and i'm sure will have more features but the main thing is how well the basics are done and the assembly. Tony lee

I'm pretty sure these are the last two offerings of the Nashorn from DML and AFV Club. Should be interesting if you're into that sort of thing. Tony lee

I know it has nothing to do with how they go together, but I like the AFV box art better. Are you planning to build them both at the same time or one then the other?Jeff T.

Yeah I like the AFV art work too Tank. The plan is to build them side by side sub-assembly by sub-assembly if possible. Only way to really compare I figure. Tony lee

Great idea for a thread....I think detail wise the AFV kit will be better overall, but it has rubber tracks so the dragon indie tracks might be better?
So, the 3 in 1 would be Nashorn early, late and Hornisse?
Can't wait!

This is a great idea Tony. Would be nice to comare the two. I know the Dragon version has been around the block a long time and this is I think my third time with it, and the Hummel twice.

Hey Boss lets hope they did better this time,it's their fifth try. My research finds that there are still errors in the instructions but they tell you what options are needed for each version this time. The AFV Club kit is the standard version and DMLs is "Initial(Hornisse),Initial Modified and Early" i'll build the DML as the "Initial Modified" which is the build up before the finial Standard version. My Nuts&Bolts book should come in handy. I've got to do some paint work on the SU series, if it stays dry around here that is, if not i'll do a little something with these two in the mean time.. Visitors Welcome Until Then Tony lee Tony I hate those older Dragon instructions with images of the model. The exact placement of parts is what can ruin a model , or worse, you shelf it. I know I am missing a few parts to my Nashorn due to not knowing where they go, or just missed seeing that part in the instructions. Looking forward to seeing you build both and your feedback on the fifth attempt.

You know you live in Missouri if: You've ever used both the heat and AC in a 24 hour period. You see a tornado and think, Damn I just waxed the car. The four seasons are nearly winter, winter, still winter and road construction.
I'm watching this one!

G-Man you drove that nail straight and true buddy These are the goody packs: AFV Club on the left,DML on the right. NO tow cable for the DML, I may have just over looked it but I don't think so. Steps #1 and #2 for the Dragon.(GRAY) Steps #1,3,4.part of 6 and 8 on the AFV.(Dark Yellow) Bottom detail, rivets a little stronger on the AFV Suspension runners are molded on the Dragon but you install them on the AFV. Right Side: Standard sprockets Left Side: Early sprockets AFV has separate sprocket dust covers for a nice touch and articulating suspension, Dragon does not. Track support roller housing are molded on the Dragon. A lot of difference in the way the lower hulls were engineered by the kit designers huh. BTW both have adjustable idler track tension axles. Enough for today folks Tony lee

Quite interesting. Are both kits original to their current manufacturers? I know sometimes kits are reboxed after the molds are purchased.
Tony I'm born, raised and worked an entire career in St Louis, Mo. I am very familiar with the weather...........that's why I moved......
