Tony, those tracks look prety darn nice. Are they true vinyl? They glued with Tamiya thin cemment without having to melt them together?

I don't know what the material is Gary but the glue melted them just about like it does plastic or DS tracks. The two ends over lap with a tongue and groove system and all but disappears when together.

If you pick the AFV Club Nashorn all you rubber band types will be very happy. I turned them inside out,put a thin coat of Tamiya Extra Thin on the slice and held them together with duck bill clips I got from Radio Shack to use as heat sinks for soldering while the joint dried. The slice joint is just to the right of the drivers view port. Pretty good for band tracks don't you think? Cheers Tony lee Tony , if you glued them then whats the soldering and heat sinks for ?

Carl the tracks were laid out flat in the bottom of the box which is great but the tail of the tongue splice was kinked a little. After the glue was applied those flat billed clips kept the tongue in solid contact within the groove.
I normally use the clips when I solder PE to draw heat away from joints already soldered.
Make sense to you now? Tony lee

Tony, nice fit.Although rubber band tracks are my least favorite.Fruils are the best,I think, but just cost too damn much for Me to use on a regular basis.DS tracks are pretty good, except for that gross fleshy color which is hard to cover.I haven't done any length and link ones yet,so I don't know about those.Magic Tracks are the best option for Me.I've done 3 sets of them.It was a learning experience but worth the effort in my opinion. What part of putting them together do you have trouble with My friend? Jeff T.

Great result with those rubber band tracks. They look even better than Tasca ones, that I thought were the best around...

Tony,
My secret to doing Magic tracks (when I have to, normal method is replace with workables, but you already knew that!) is to use regular glue, not liquid glue. Create the track runs as 4 sections as a way to create my own link-and-length approach. Let them set up thoroughly overnight, then take the 4 sections apart for painting and detailing. That keeps them from becoming fragile but still allows for enough work time to shape them into the right sag, etc. Might give that a shot if you're inclined to stick with the kit tracks.

Tony,I agree with Bill on the glue use.Believe it or not,I use Testors orange tube glue on my tracks. It is thick enough to hold the tracks together while you make your runs and dries slowly enough to let you mess with them to get the shape you need.Jeff T.

Lets see i've got Testors Green and Black. I see the Black stuff is used most of the time and that's what i've tried using, maybe I didn't let it cure long enough.

The Fruils were almost assembled anyway so the peddle went to the metal. I'm so weak Tony lee

The comparison will be unfair, in the end. Poor AFV got rubber bands and Dragon had those magnificent friuls you assembled so well

Jeff if those AFV tracks were trash it would have been Fruils for it too but I thought they looked pretty good and put them on. Magic tracks have been around for a long time and everybody knows about those. I've used Dragon DS tracks twice both on Sherman based SPGs and was very happy with those too. I save the DML Magic Tracks for hard times just in case. I said the Dragon kit came with Magic tracks and didn't say I was going to use them. Race Time at Indy Tony lee

I haven't been keeping count jackwagon and both have their pros and cons therefore pretty even. Like I said earlier I feel like it all boils down to the price. Tony lee

Tony , they look about even as far as detail but those magic (nightmare?) tracks put the DML behind in my book since there is the added expense of the Friuls . But I probably would of used Friuls on either kit anyway . Bill , that tube glue idea sounds interesting . Nems , I think AFV and Dragon are both cheaper in that place with all of the cattle .........were was that ? South Dakota ?

All the models i've seen done with Magic tracks look good to me Carl so it's not that, I guess i'm just too ham fisted with them. jackwagon price dictates the world over, model subject is what I buy and not the brand. Tony lee
