Thanks gents. I had a bit of bench time Saturday and spent almost all of it on the mantlet and mantlet Blazer armor. It was a struggle, to say the least. I think if I do another one like this (more like "when") I'll scratch the mount. It would be both easier and faster than trying to dig that piece out of it's casting block. Actually, I felt like an archeologist at a dig, trying to separate some teeny little fish skeleton from the rock it's embedded in. I have pics, just need to either go to Mac school or get my PC fixed.

Wow, what a massive chunk of resin you have, Russ Great job, the details stand out even without paint.

Okay! I actually have been modeling, not as much as I'd like, but it's coming along. I have a lot to say about resin, very little of it printable on a public forum. I will say this: the conversion I'm using has more short-shots it it than anything I've ever used, plastic or resin. I am NOT impressed with the QC evident here. But I'm going to be shooting primer shortly, maybe next session. Thanks to my lovely wife, who bought me a new card reader yesterday, and a new camera, which I haven't tried out yet. All these images to come are from the old unit. So. I have most of the detail parts on the turret, I found the resin bow armor packs and replaced the plastic parts with them as the detail and accuracy are much better, and fixed the mantlet armor mount where I broke it as soon as I had it carved out of it's casting wafer. Never again..... I'm ecstatic, however that Academy has released the Magach 6 Gal-Batash in plastic. It's on my "gotta have it" list. Okay, the rest of the pics I have (well not all of them, it's a bunch) showing current status. The last pic is of the two loader's MG mount I had to scratch since the Legends part was un-usable, and anywhere you see plastic it's because the resin part was a short-shot or otherwise rejected, usually due to extreme warpage.

'Preciate it, Gary. All's well, job's good and everything else is good too. Just wish I had a little more bench time, but that's been the norm for a number of years now. Thanks, Luigi. It's more than I want to get into for a while. It'll be all plastic for me next. I'm already drooling over the sprue shots of Academy's Magach6 Gal-Batash.....

T'anks, Dicky. If I had bought the Legends stuff "new", I'd be smokin', but I got three conversion for the price of one new one. The others are a Merkava 3C and a Magach6 Gal. I'm definitely looking to sell the Merk kit, even though I have Acad's Merk3 in the stash as a base, but I'll probably use the Magach set, or at least most of it, since I've already robbed a few bits out of it for this -MEM. I scratched a 6-Gal last year and it came out very nicely, so I really don't know how soon I'll be in to it, but it's nice to have around.

Nice to see you back at the bench Russ! You're winning the battle against the resin for sure, nice scratch/surgery/replacement efforts.

Bruce, Bill: Thanks! It's good to be back. Primer's on, gotta scare up some tow cables and maybe some stowage, not sure this time. Every IDF M60 I've done has been pretty well covered up in stuff, might be nice to do one that doesn't look like a chuck wagon. Than again, maybe not.....

Nice job so far! I've build the Legend Magach 6B Gal version, so i know there is a lot of resin in there. Keep up the good work.

Thanks, Pete. I made two since I wasn't sure if I wanted the telescoping mount or not, and then there was the question of which one would come out better....

Hmmm, paint. I'm using model MAster SAC tan from a rattle can, pretty close match to mid-80s IDF sand grey, I think.

IDF uses the same(-ish) colour since 1982 But there is a lot of difference in region icw weathering. So there is no exact colour that is truely right

Yeah, it's hard to get "wrong", and whatever color the local soil is changes it radically. Hmmm, maybe why it's used? Truth: most of the inside of my house is the same color. A painter buddy had five gallons of various tans and taupes that were left over from other jobs, so we mixed them together in one bucket and came up with IDF sand grey. My wife knows what color IDF tanks are..... It changes drastically with light, too so it's not an monotonous as you might think.

Hey rbaer came to check your thread out as promised, very impressive. You sure you didn't go down to the local paint shop and get them to color match that picture on the box , looks spot on mate. Nice build I might add.

You'd be amazed at what you can get in a rattle can these days. 'Preciate the look-see!

Well, bad weather in Texas means bench time for Rusty Baer! Pics are of progress so far, decals and wash on. I've been bitching about the quality of all these teeny resin parts, but with paint and a wash, all I can say is that the quality of the masters must have been outrageously good. I simply can't imagine the skill involved..... Anyway, here it is. I couldn't resist and had to show some wear and tear, notably the Blazer packs in different colors, to suggest replacement. Lost markings were re-done by hand, to give the idea of hurried repairs. I plan on posing this one next to an IDF M113 Fitter's vehicle, which I'm planning on starting next. Thanks, for looking, as always!
