A propos "Military Equipment" - just couldnt resist - those brand new 1/48 Luftwaffe soldiers in winter clothing from ICM were a "must have". Not that I want to use the figures on the Diorama, but theres something extra in the box By Chance or not - one of the figures Looks quite similar to Mr. Adolf Galland. Anyways, I really love the ICMkits, cause theyre getting better and better with every kit they throw on the market And... From "Attack" came a 1/48 tool set made of resin. 10 โฌ for the set, but you get 8 axes, 8 pits, 8 shovels etc. - much to much to use them all here, so there a huge reserve for further Projects. Therefore the Price/value is more than ok.

Okay... Here Comes the next update. [1] The "Schlagbaum" [toll bar] was assembled, as well as the tool box and the small ladder from the ICM set. Testors "Steel" for the ladder only, plus Hull Red for the tool box. Then some scratches - done and weathered... As I told above - I can really recommend this set. [2] I went to my garden and found some small pieces of concrete there, those pieces were smashed into smaller pieces and scattered all around the diorama plate to give it more structure at the right edge of it... Step I Step II Step III ...and heres the complete overview of the diorama as-is-by-now Cheers all and thanks for watching!

Thanks Bill. Now it gets kinda serious: putting the figures, the Schlagbaum and of course the Junkers plane, means the Body, on the plate. As far as I can se, the rear part of the Ju 52 will stay off the plate, but thats okay. Looks more dynamic then. This is my "grandfather figure" walking benaeth the crashed bird... a bit closer [hair not painted yet]: Behind the Schlagbaum - an officer and a Feldgendarmerie [i.e. military police] soldier. This figure came with the Tamiya set btw. Perfect! In front of the toll bar some civilists... "Hey, keep off here!". Here a general problem occured, that lies in the nature of the figures itself: The Tamiya figures are way smaller than the Eduard figures and the resine civilians. The only way to solve it as good as possible is to keep them seperate. Especially Eduard vs. Tamiya figures is a MASSIVE difference if you watch closely - and most of the viewers will probably. So... Some experimenting here and there, and this will be [hopefully] the most suitable solution here... "The Flak shell was thiiiiiiiiis BIG!!!" lol The paramedic had a pee [or something like that]. Or is there the sick bay behind the trees? Up to you! Thanks for watching! Lucas.

Did a heavy nightshift and completed the main parts of the base. Means all figures are complete now [except the military policeman - hes missing his helmet], theyre placed on the diorama plate, some additional stuff like tools, equipment etc. was placed, a sign was build and of course I had to wait for some daylight to get some acceptable pictures... Some words about the grass: After the base was primed in black, the base was highlighted with Olive Drab to highlight the stones, rubble etc. Those spots were washed with a dark brown ink, then a highlighting with several shades of grey and brown mixtures followed. The higher grass on the left side is the grass I bought in Leipzig [see above]. This mat was cut in an irregular shape, and the borders of the base were covered with seperate grass fibres. They glue perfect if you use a clear coat spray. Some darker areas came after that, I used darker seperate fibres of course, finally some airbrushing followed to give the scene an even more irregular shape. Overspray is not a problem, if you react quickly. Some fibres will do what they want and cover areas where they really shouldnt be. Relax - as Long as the clear coat is wet - you have to becareful and spray thin layers only of course - youcan wipe the stains simplyaway with a sponge or something. Everything will help thats not too sharp [sanding paper etc] or too soft. A sponge works really perfect, and costs nothing. All the grass work and the figure painting took me 9h or something, three big cups of coffee, two packs of linden leaves from PlusModel - quite expensive stuff! -,a big amount of Humbrol/Tamiya/Vallejo paint, and of course loads of patience. Feel free to ask if you have questions and dont hesitate to be critical - now is the time to correct something, if neccesary Enjoy!

Time to take care of the plane itself... Of course every modeler has his favourite "family recipe" to paint details and the model itself. Although I was a bit sceptic first - to be honest - it happened that Games Workshop washings are really worth their Money. Never tried MIG and was a bit disappointed of Vallejo washings [yep, thats true...] - GW is like "brush it on, wait half an hour, and be lucky!. Every stroke with your brush seems to be a "sure shot". Matter of taste of course! Heres the result: And cause there cant be enough details on a diorama, heres some flowers from the German brand "Noch", the very same is the leaves - same stuff, but olive green. To bring this to "life" i had to sneak a bottle of hairspray from my girlfriends bathroom What can the Airport border look like? Cause I have neither Pictures of the Airport nor any idea, I created something like a fence - with some spare sockets [1/87 scale originally] and plastic Profile - not painted yet.

Digitalized accompanying text: The text says: "On August 3rd 1942 a Junkers Ju 52 of 1./KG 1 crash landed in Prague Ruzeny. It came down with 15% damage. It had my grandfather Gottfried Neubert on board. He was flown out from the Eastern front with a shot through his arm. Although extensive research was done, more circumstances could not be found out. How the Situation could have been looked like, that shows this diorama..."

;)Hello Lucas, Your ground work is progressing wonderfully. Very nice indeed. :)I'm not sure that an airport in a rural setting would have even had a fence. Perhaps around a main entrance or "terminal" there might have been one. As for the rest of the perimeter....I am wondering there would even be a fence or if the design would be even more simple than what you have (i.e. local materials). Air fields are huge and fences take maintenance. Huge fence lines take a lot of maintenance. Just my 2ยข.
