This will be a build I will start in the next week or so while I consider weather to go with a ISU152 with engine and interior or a KV2 which I still need a little more information on. This MAYBE a slow build while I am looking at my options on the ISU/KV2 build.

Good to have a serious review guy along to keep me straight. Not much will happen here until next week while I finish the CMP and Pheasant builds.

I am also thinking about bashing a Trumpy ML20 for its gun to do a KV2 Turret, I have two V2 engines, and a Trumpy KV2 so with a couple of more parts we have a maybe situation here.

Bones, The Trumpy kit 01571 is in the system (assuming that's the kit you're referring to!). You can see the available prices for it here: www.myhobbyinfo.com/pages/inteldesk/intelcatalogbrowserprice.php?itemID=3820 Depending on the retailer, the prices range from $32 to $48 at the moment. HTH and looking forward to the tractor coming together!

I may be using the "Quick Finder" feature wrong, I entered all the info on the kit and it again comes back "No Kit Found." I can fine it with the link you gave but then I need to find a way to add it to my wish list. I see that Sprue Brothers are keeping up the the Hong Kong boys for price.

Bones Bones, The Quick Kit Finder may be returning you the No Kit Found if you're putting in too many elements in your search...the finder tool is restrictive which means that the more things you put in, the more restricted a result it will give you back...too many elements means a too restricted search and it won't find anything you're looking for particularly if you have something slightly off from what the system description, item #, or other factors are depending on what you put in. For example if I just enter SU-152 in the Kit Name or Keyword field, 15 results are returned and the Trumpeter kit shows up on the 2nd page of results. If I enter in just the Kit # as 01571, I get 2 results. If I enter in both the kit # as 01571 and SU-152 as a keyword, I get just the one result for Trumpeter. As far as entering things in your Wish List, use the link I gave you and just click on the Wish List button that shows up for any one of those prices and it will automatically add it for you. You're right about Sprue Brothers (at least when it comes to certain kits/brands), they can be very price competitive depending. HTH!

The 152 with partial interior is what I want too. This way I can make masters of the gun, breech and cradle to use on KV II tanks. I have one T34 trany and engine that I can use on one really good KV II wreck someday.

You sure put the pressure on a guy, now I have to make a realistic model and perfect my Bob Hope act for entertaining the troops as we go, hope I don't disappoint because my wife, unlike Delores wont allow any good looking dolly's going along.

Does that mean me and Todd can't watch? If you want fun with lots of pictures of dolly's or me to sing you might be disappointed, plain old slow building now that is another situation and I can do a slow build like nobody else, except maybe Andy.

Bones, the LZ motor is a nice little gem. I remember when they (he) came out with it. LZ railcar sets are very nice and detailed too.

Yes it is also the Mirror Model Irish guy who is so talented, seems to excel at railroad stuff but so far as I can tell his engines for converting the Stalinetz are second to none, just wish they were styrene.
I have amassed a lot of interior photos on the su152 if your interested but maybe you already have them.

I have one T34 trany and engine that I can use on one really good KV II wreck someday. This SU152 and KV2 turret thing is getting a life of its own. I posted up above that what was needed was an ML20 for the KV2 turret and that it turns out is bogus it should be an M10 for which there are a lot of pictures of the howitzer version to guide a breach block build I'm not sure its with in my ability to build one and no kit has been made to kit bash. The T34 stuff wont work in the SU152 what is needed is KV trans. The T34 engine can be made to work. I think that it is possible that separate threads for the SU152 and KV should be used to keep all this information and updates on what is being done.

With the CMP FAT and 17 Pounder complete we can know start the Stalinetz which has been, so far, kind of a pleasant surprise in the detail amount of offered in the Trumpeter kit, many small fiddly parts for those of us who enjoy that type of thing. The included PE parts are limited to 6 washers for the backs of the front idler retention block which could justifiably be labeled as over complication but I have been getting better at apply this stuff so I can not complain.
I am going to add the LZ resin engine which is very well detailed and the casting observed in the bag looks good. The most amazing part for those who have never used LZ kits is the small computer disk which accompanied the parts. This disk has PDF's of all the instruction manuals for each of their kits plus a catalog of their products. Those of us who have been using Resin AM kits are very familiar with how really bad the instructions are that come with these kits often making assembly an extremely painful (disappointing) experience. Well the LZ instruction manual for this kit is step by step from the first part with large photo's of how most if not all parts are to fit with listings of kit parts not to use or how the engine is going to inter act with the kit parts, it is 26 pages in length which is even better than most styrene kits.
BonesOOB Parts in bags and LZ engine kit in the middle. The kit starts with the (road wheels) track frame rollers and (Return rollers) carrier rollers. More track frame parts.Track frame rollers complete.

Progress piccy's
These are the majority of parts to form the track frame. The PE washer that goes on the back of the Idler bushing block showing where it goes. Here is a real life depiction of the size of the part and the improvement it makes to the kit. Just kidding the detail of the kit will always be the sum of all the parts, none are so insignificant to be left out.

Parts for completing the Track FrameTrack Frames connected with Swing frame, the track tenssion springs are on the work bench to the right. Here is an important note if you are planning to build these two kits, I did not study the 26 sheet of directions that came with the LZ kit closely enough and they failed to point out that their example in the directions did not apply the OOB outer cover to the inner frame rail. When you leave the hood off you really do not need the outer cover which only makes the cover and frame look smooth when all are in place. The inner rail has all the bolts and rivets showing just like it was intended to be optional to leave the cover off. In my opinion it would look better with the cover off but I had already glued one side on when I discovered the difference.

Wait until you see the engine if you want to see tiny details, I thought I had already done the most fiddly little detail part recently, I was wrong there is one on the engine that is not only the tiniest to date but I had to drill 4 holes out for wire to go through later.

Back on 7-10-2013 I posted on the outside frame rail covers that the Resin kit does not use, today I found two more reasons too leave them off. First the Stalinetz that LZ models gives you a nice link for which has at least a 100 photo's it seems does not have the outsides on it.
Secondly when you go to follow the step to glue the motor mount on you find that it would be MUCH easier if the cover was not there.
