Thank you for the kind comments guys.
Want to put this to bed ASAP as I really have lost interest.
I have another civilian project which has been calling to me for some time, should have done it instead of this...

Thanks guys but at the risk of repeating myself, I'm really not enjoying this at all. I continue for two reasons, firstly I don't want another part build laying around, secondly, I'm trying to convince myself that the practice will help on my next project. Right, small amount to show you, the bare metal foil has reappeared! Close scrutiny will show I need to tidy it up slightly but that's simple enough to do now its on. Two downsides, the headlight covers are not that crisply moulded making applying BMF to the right areas problematic. Second, the rear screen is very thin and although you may not see it, I cracked it purely with a little too much handling. Not much I can do except leave alone as much as possible and hope it doesn't become two pieces before I get a chance to glue it in... Back soon.

Looks pretty sweet from here Prof. This bare metal foil stuff intrigues me. Although its not the first thing I think of when I see the initials BMF. :DTell me more please. Is it glued, and then trimmed or just rubbed on. How does it work?

Hi chaps, thank you.
BMF is cool stuff, it comes on a sheet approx 25cm x 16cm. It is very, very thin, much thinner than say aluminium foil used in cooking. It is self adhesive, the glue used makes the foil 'peelable' so if you lay I down wrong, you can gently peel it off and reapply.
Application is very simple although getting consistently good results takes a little practice.
I will quickly run through the procedure for you, imagine I'm foiling the Ferrari windshield...
1. Cut a piece of foil from the sheet to do the top of the windshield only, approx 10mm longer and 6mm wider than you actually need, don't try to do the whole windshield in one go, it's a waste of foil, aim to tackle it in four sections, top, bottom and the two sides.
2. Lay the foil on so you have an excess of foil all round.
3. Once you are happy with its position, press the foil into place with a soft ended tool. I use cotton buds as they are firm enough to press it into place without damaging the foil. To get into the tight corners and to give a really crisp edge, use a slight blunt toothpick or similar to gently scribe into the edges / corners.
4. Using a FRESH blade, gently run the knife round the edge of the moulding to create your line to separate the waste foil, DO NOT press down with the knife!, the weight of the knife alone will be sufficient to cut the very thin foil plus by pressing too hard you run the risk of damaging the kit part or the paintwork if you have done that already.
5. Once you have made your cut (which must be a complete cut from end to end), using a toothpick or your fingers if you can get at it, gently and slowly start to lift the excess foil away. If you leave some excess behind, it can be eased away or gently scraped off with a blunt toothpick or as I prefer, a wooden BBQ skewer.
6. You should be left with the bit you want foiled...foiled! If too much came away when you removed the excess, don't panic, cut yourself another small piece to fill the gap and lay it on, don't worry about overlapping, the foil is so fine that the join will be all but invisible from anything more than 6 inches away.
7. Run the cotton bud round the foiled part to press down the edges and also to polish the foil, any further tidying up can be done with a sharp blade and small pieces of fresh foil as necessary.
A sheet lasts a long time, I can probably get 8-10 auto builds out of one sheet, maybe more, it can also be used for repairing chrome on kit parts or as a very easy to control masking medium for other projects.

Nice progress. I would get rid of the plating on the wheels and spray them an aluminium color to make them look more like metal.

Hi guys, thanks.
I might spray the wheels Wetsellery but I'm so cheesed off with this build I simply want it stuck together and done with!

Thank you Keith, very kind of you to comment.
I guess I should look at it as a learning curve but I must admit I'm struggling to do that.
Hey ho, plug away, see what happens.

She`s looking terrific mate............trust me!! I got similar with the Monte fella........the undercrackers ain`t so hot i gotta say, however, non of that will ever be seen much like all the little fit issues on the GTO............so, i`m purely concentrating on the body and paint, the same is applied here matey!!, ignore all the little niggley parts and go for that ultimate Ferrari red finish with a nice set of wheel , at the end of the day that is the eye catching important part ......ya BMF looks perfectly good from here fella and will sit very nicely indeed against the red background ....keep her revving mucka and don`t loose heart

Cheers troops. Boots /Dicky, I'm trying to keep the faith but its getting harder. Robbo, I will try to get a closer pic for you and put it in the gallery if I ever finish it. Boo, Not really an update, just proof something is happening. Had a blast round the body with some polishing compound and its starting to look better. Can't do too much more as its quite fragile, I have already cracked one of the A pillars...

Chaps. Few hours to sober up, then did some gardening and general chores to clear my head before a little bench time. Not much to report really apart from the fact I'm still not enjoying this at all. Anyway, chassis and interior pretty much done now, I'm not going to spend any more time on it due to a distinct lack of interest. Thanks.

You know it's tough when you're forced to drink and BBQ followed by gardening and chores as preferred activity vs. working on a build project! Hang with it Mence, that interior's looking good.
