Rick, I hear you about the dangers of pets! We have two indoor cats and one of them is a notorious thief...she once stole a part of a gun mount for a Leopold build right off my desk one night. After that, the workbench/office area always got closed up when I wasn't in there to prevent any more 'cat burglar' activity! Dave, thanks as always! The Sunday updates have become a 'staple' in my weekend routine, feels strange not to do them if something interferes...that and poor Andy starts hounding me! Carl, thank you sir! The process is always evolving and you've had some influence in that with your own work and steps, so tip of the hat in your direction as well my friend. Tobi, the weathering process is where things truly become make-or-break IMHO. High praise indeed, I'm glad the finish is taking on a realistic feel to it...sometimes in the early stages it's hard to say exactly how it's going to end up but once the layers start working together it all starts to come together. Pete, thanks as well, on to the pigments!

Those washes worked perfectly, Bill. They really toned down and tied together the paint scheme. Bought that same Goliath kit myself some time back. I started working on one of them but shelved it until I had the time to scratch up one of the little transport carriers they had. They're so simple I'm surprised Dragon didn't include one or two with the kit. You sneaked this one in on me Bob! Thanks for the comments as always. At the time I think Dragon was more interested in selling the figures set and the Goliath was just something to add variety to it, but you're right about the little carriers for these guys. These things are still kicking around despite their age (the Copyright date on the instructions is from 1999) and the detail on them is quite good considering.

Luigi, thanks my fine Italian friend! Phil, always happy to provide the steps on how a finish is achieved, if only to show people sometimes what NOT to do! Carl, you betcha, I love seeing your work come alive and seeing the integration of the different steps/layers in your process. That, and of course, your gang of wild-haired brushes!

Thanks Deano! If you put a Pz I in the mix, you'd have the full spectrum from small to large and back again!

Thanks kaktus! Glad to hear it, I get my inspiration from all the other fine builders here and elsewhere in the same fashion so I'm happy to return the favor. Bob, you've got the 'stealth' mode down pat! Dicky, that's a cute pic indeed! (the Goliath of course!) Interesting how much variation there is in that example vs. what Dragon produced...no idea how 'standard' these things were considering their designated role of exploding on command. Carl, there are some rare photos of The Styremernator in his natural element floating around...the last one involved him carrying a large 'man bag'!

Not to go off topic, but since you asked dept...... There were over 7500 made in basically 3 different designs - 302, 303a, and 303b. One electric powered (302 Dragon type), which proved to be too expensive and hard to maintain in the field, and 2 different gas versions (303b Bovington) and the 303a shown here by Boston9 from the Polish museum in Warsaw

Cool info Bob! Thanks for that. Always cool to learn something new about the weirder stuff the Germans cooked up.

Those ARE cool... glad I have the kit to build a Goliath! And Bill, what can I say? Your TI is coming along very nicely. I have a TI to build and can't decide on either an early version (Initial Tiger) or the Tiki. Always had my eyes on the Vorpanzer to but that's a lot of work! Jeff

Thanks Marcel! Dicky, just so long as we keep it straight on what is large and what isn't! Jeff, sounds like you've got a 'good' problem on your hands. Save time and build 'em both simultaneously!

Hey... who do yo think you are? Me? I cam in to check the threads expected to find all the finished pics a page or so back. But it's still going. You don't usually take this long do you Bill? Yeah. yeah, yeah... I know... slow and steady wins the race. The Goliath looks awesome. I wish I still had the old Imperial Series kit of that.
Speaking of long builds... Now I gotta check to see if Andy ever finished his DUKW. I'm gonna go with NO!

Thanks Greg!
Marc, Andy's setting a world record for procrastination on his DUKW! Builds for me now take longer than they used to. There was once a time when I could easily complete 10-12 builds a year but now it's been cut to half that or less depending on the subjects. Not uncommon for a standard tank build to take me 2 months to finish now...mostly because I've added more steps to the process! This one's right on schedule for that 'typical' timeframe...for now!

Guys, you forgot that ducks migrate south for the winter. Google for facts if you don't believe me. I am having too much fun with Chally II... that's what helps me keep my mojo going. Hope I will have it when I resume my work on my damn duck.

Hope I will have it when I resume my work on my damn duck. No worries on the DUKW Andy, it gets done when it gets done! Don't try to force it, I'm sure it will enjoy the nice sunny weather down south in the meantime.

Safe to say my duck is doing great... Now I am tempted to go south too. Expecting severe snow storm tomorrow that my boss asked us to "work" from home tomorrow... you can picture me jumping with joy!!! LOL

Expecting severe snow storm tomorrow that my boss asked us to "work" from home tomorrow... you can picture me jumping with joy!!! LOL So THAT's where you got your inspiration from for the choice of figures on that build. I can just bet you're suffering mightily under the strain of working from home tomorrow.
