Model is all primed up and tracks painted with vallejo panzer aces tracks primer, love that stuff. I primed the figures too as you can see there's a British interloper there as well! Paint work will be delayed cos I stripped the airbrush for a thorough clean and discovered the needle packing PTFE washer was missing. I wondered why it wasn't spraying very well! That sodding carpet monster has expensive tastes £8 lighter in the wallet for a new one so am waiting for that now.

cheers guys I'm hoping the part will turn up this w/e. I suppose it's not too bad as I've had the airbrush for 10 years and this is the first part I've had to buy.

Primer's looking good Pete, tough break on the AB-delay but at least now you know why it's been giving you fits lately.

Pete , perhaps too late to be of any assistance this time or mayhaps this is not the washer like your A.B. has .........butt on my Badger A.B. I have lost this little washer 2 times now and this is the home made replacement that works 100 % as good as the original . This tube is from one of those lotion bottles that has the plunger on top . I cut it to the approx. thickness . There's a couple of diff . diameter tubes so it may take a few b4 you get the correct size . Don't know if you have a significant other female to steal the lotion from but with my wife I just give her a blank look when she ask whats happened to her lotion bottle ..................

Nice to see you're not letting the AB delays idle your bench completely Pete. Good progress on the figures, the little doggy is a nice touch!

You hit home run on the panzer uniform. My art teacher told me not to start at black but something lighter like you said. The dog looks great! ARF ARF!

Whoo hoo!
Paint!
Figures are looking great Pete. I like the black/flesh mix a lot. It doesn't look too stark like a series of grays would.

Fantastic paint job!!! I completely missed the part that you were going to paint it in dark yellow. I only have seen them in panzer grey. So much to learn... LOL

Hi Pete, I've had a very brief look around on Wiki etc en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzer_38(t) and cannot find any definitive reference to a 38(t) ever having been painted in DY but what do we know eh? It's perfectly plausible that a battle hardened survivor of the very early war years was put in for a refit and was given a fresh coat of DY after the Grey had been phased out and the DY phased in? Either way, I think we should all produce our 'Artistic Licence' card occasionally and do something a little different wether we have proof or not. I for one am very glad you opted for the DY basecoat over the usual Pz. Grey seen on these things and if nothing else, it will certainly set it apart from other 38(t) builds! Great work Smudge and keep the updates coming! Ben

Ben Even though the 38(t)s had been withdrawn from German frontline service by 1943 when the DY went into effect, they still continued to serve in the '2nd line' divisions of other Axis powers such as the Hungarians, Romanians, and even the Bulgarians. No equipment was wasted even if it was obsolete!
