Very nice work on this KT. The base colors are always not to our liking, but the weathering will bring it t life. It's all in the layers. The oil streaks look great btw.

Good morning guys Bill-Thanks brother this is a step I've been needing to do for some time Dan-Thank you also, and I must say this set of magic tracks were the easiest I've dealt with to date, probably because of the large contact area. The Tammy KT bandies are pretty bad Leon-Thank you sir Carl-Yes they can, and thanks for the positive vibes Rob-You could not be more correct on the layer concept, something that's finally been pounded thru my thick skull. Thank you sir Tojo-Thanks you're gonna like this kit which features good fit and no mousetraps Phil-Good to see you like it thanks All-Praise from all of you guys whom I consider to be upper level builders and finishers make me feel I'm doing something right. I've gotten the first oil coat done The greatest thing about this is that I can look at it again when I get home from work and if I see something amiss I can get out the mineral spirits and fix it. This is a huge advantage over enamels that I've always used before...like I'm telling you guys something you don't already know. Guess now it's a couple-three days for drying Regards, Mark

Mark , you doing great . Always a pleasure to see this technique being mastered . I might add if I may that the longer the oils set and dry the more difficult they become to dilute on he surface of your model . The thinner will tend to lift off lager pieces of pigment and cause the oils in the area that you applied the thinner in to lift off copletely . So be careful . If your satisfied and want the weathering to be darker its a good idea to seal what have on it already with a coat of Future ...or something similar . Just wanting to help as I have learned the hard way ........you know , when your at your bench having a bad time of it and your wife calls out "is everything ok in there ?" ...... ....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ! Good luck !

Hey gents Carl-I'll take any help and advice you can give on this to me unfamiliar medium, and thanks for volunteering it Nemo, Bill, Pete, Deano-Thanks, yer all too kind I'd originally intended to seal the first oil streaky job and do another. I shot it with some MM clear flat acrylic, and much to my surprise once dry the clear coat accentuated the oil job to a point where any more would be too much I thought. I stuck the tools and cables etc on, and here's where it is now I used the kit supplied wire cable as it seemed to be somewhat more ductile than the usual way too stiff stuff Dragon seems to favor. As I see it the tool handles need more work as well as the cleaning rods, and the tracks need different rust tones. If anyone sees something I missed please do not hesitate to point it out Regards, Mark

Looks pretty darn well done Mark . Only thing on the first 3 pics that stands out to me is their darkness . Since you weathered the spare tracks you might want to also weather the tow cables and tools imo .Don't think the cable will be a rust color . Maybe flat black with a dry brushing metallic gray . Some burnt umber oils over the wood on the tool handles would help and can be easily made to look like wood grain .Those cleaning rods have metal ends on them as they are screwed together . One end being male and the other female threaded . But that's probably a bit much detail to do at this point .

Carl-Thanks and yes, I must get some decent lighting with which to take photos. It's likely too late to change the cables but I'm pondering trying...have to wait for a steady hand day
Dan-Thank you and yes I think a spot of dirt will be in order here
Pete-Much appreciated
Regards, Mark

Flat coats tend to bring out the 'layers' more when they are applied and what your pics show is just right IMHO! As a general reference, braided steel tow cables were greased to prevent rust (rust corrodes and weakens the cable, making it prone to breaking under tension, never a good thing), which is why you would see them a dark black color with some steel highlights showing through here and there. Looking forward to seeing the details come to life further on this one Mark!

Wow ! Now that's a heck of an improvement on the handles Mark ! I didn't mention it before but I want to say that the feathered edges on your camo is amongst the best I've seen . Oil wash on the hull and turret is very well done and yet subtle . Really like your artistry here .

I'm really liking this one - I'll be building my KT soon and am still undecided on the scheme but I'm very impressed with this one you have going on here. Great subtle streaking on the oil wash and I love the wood grain effect on the tool handles - something I'm yet to master! Ben

Afternoon guys Wingy-Thanks, it makes me glad I got out of the comfort zone Bill-Thanks also, depending on where one goes the net can be a great resource Carl-Aw garsh you're making me turn red thank you brother Andy, Anthony-Thanks guys Ben-Thanks and all ya gotta do is keep doing it 'till it looks right...oils allow lots of time for this Phil, Luigi-Thanks also I'm moving with arthritic speed on this build but getting in a hurry never did me much good. Here it is with suggested improvements in place along with two of the crew who are also not quite done yet Commander and loader up next along with dirt and perhaps some chipping. I don't know about the latter as late production Tiger II's really were not in action all that long. Regards, Mark
