Since CB's lived up to his end of the bargain and finished his Uhu in 2013, it's my turn to do the same...I said I'd build a 1/32 wingy in 2014 and since the BSG project has finished up and there's still a few days left in the year, might as well get a start on this one sooner rather than later. Here's the starting materials...lots of bottles with strange 'RLM' codes printed on them, will have to just pretend they are RAL codes in disguise!

OK, now that I have come to to terms that Bill is out of control.... I will say that he is at least doing the best looking 109 of the series. The F has always been my favorite. And in a desert scheme... can't be beat.

And in a desert scheme... can't be beat. Desert scheme was one of the reasons I settled on this one. Many years ago I 'flew' 109Fs in an online MMPORG called WW2Online. Had the whole HOTAS arrangement, keyboard shortcuts for flaps and engine settings, etc. all setup. I was a true killer in this machine, had a win-loss ratio of 25-to-1 when I quit playing the game.

As soon as you start this I have decided to do a complementary build of the the same aircraft in 144th scale. IT's in the stash and I have been wanting to for ages and you've pushed me over the edge. Been teetering on the edge of sanity for ages so it's not much of a push

Deano, Leon, Dan, thanks for following along gents! Steve, thanks for the heads-up...this one's definitely going to be done 'as-is'...it will just have to be a 'stealth G-2' masquerading as an F-4! Andy, look up in the Comfort Zone Duel Build area, you'll find it soon enough! Just look for all the crazy talk about 'pods'. Marc, you need to see plastic to make it official? Ok...

Please don't think I am attempting to besmirch the honor of a gentleman with such standing n the community as Bill. But rules is rules! Be they unwritten or otherwise That damn 144th box is so small I can't find it I got a couple more places to look Bill, since you may never use those paints again... can you mail me 3 drops of each so I can use them on mine

OK, so let me get this straight... first Bill did a SHIP... then he did a space-SHIP... and now, he is doing an air-SHIP (OK, technically and air-CRAFT, but work with me here folks...)
Will wonders never cease?

CB, late night or early morning, whichever works best for you! Rob, CB lived up to his end of the bargain so I've got to do the same! Marc, keep looking for that box! I want to see a 1/144 Peanut Butter Schmitt for sure! Dicky, who knows this may have even more profound consequences on the natural order of things in the universe...it could even cause Andy to finish his DUKW! Boyd, definite a pattern emerging here...I think it means I need to stop getting into deals with MSCers regarding what I build! BJ, I have built Shermans in the past...so who knows? They could come back around someday... And now, gents, here's the first installment: Work began with Step 1 of the instructions dealing with the cockpit areas. I'm going to hold off applying the RLM 66 to the cockpit and fuselage areas until I can airbrush them all at the same time, so I assembled the floor of the cockpit along with firewall and pilot's seat as one module. I kept the rudder pedals (PE), the large hand wheel, and the instrument panel separate from each other for now. I used the kit-supplied IP decal and painted the panel and hood RLM 02, the hand wheel Flat Black and its base/mount RLM 66, and the rudder pedals with MM non-buffing Metalizer Steel and Leather for the straps. Step 2 deals with the engine and involves a lot of parts that all need to come together to create all the different detail. The fit on some of the parts wasn't that great, requiring some sanding/trimming and a very slight amount of putty work on the engine block in spots to get it all together. End result has a lot of detail though, so that's a plus. The 'fish tail' exhausts were deliberately left off for now until I can decide if I'm going to show one of the engine panels loose or not...and then determine when the best time is to paint and install those exhausts into the engine. May not seem like a lot but those two steps covered 63 parts out of 242 so roughly 1/4 of the parts in the whole kit. Next up will be continuing work on the pit areas on the fuselage and the remaining details for the engine mounts and guns.
