Update Time Had a good day but slow. Guns do take time. I've got to figure out which muzzle brake out of three supplied in the kit to use. Box art different from the one shown on the instructions? ? Git-R-Done Tony lee

Choice of the muzzle brake will all come down to the time period/production of the vehicle in question Tony. IIRC Dragon provides you with three styles of muzzle brake for the Pak 40 because they just tossed in the same sprues into the kit for the gun. The style you will want will be either the flat-front-round-rear combo (mid style) or the round-front-round-rear combo (late style). Don't use the flat-front-flat-rear combo (early style) choice. Personally I'd go with the flat-front-round-rear as the double-round combo is a 'late' style and the vast majority of Marder II's were produced between June '42 and June '43 with another small batch produced between July '43 and March '44...making the 'mid' style of Pak 40 brake the most commonly seen type for the run.

Thanks "Johnny on the Spot" Tex that's just the answer I was needing. You know this may be an old kit(#6262 2006) but it has stood the test of time I feel. Thanks again Bill Tony lee

First and foremost Gary is I love it and second is the possibility of not living long enough to build them all. "Now you know the rest of the story" Tony lee

My favorite Marder! Built it few years ago. Be on look out for fitting issue when you add the size armor both sizes...
Man I am starting to loose track what you are building... LOL

Size? I was using my iPad! LOL Meant to say 'side'. Here's what happened to me and my Marder? When I added the supporting beams on the side armor near the front by the corner they are 'L' shaped braces I recall. Once they were dried solid then I tried to attach it on the hull. BAM! It won't fit! I had to spend a lot of time sanding those supporting beams even for best fit. So maybe you might want to test fit them before and as soon as they are glued on while being flexible. Hope you get what I am trying to say...

Maybe this picture helps... those supporting beams or braces are almost invisible behind the radio set in the corner. Blue arrow to give you an idea... wish I can find better picture but I deleted many as it has been years since I built it.

SWEEEEEEEEEEET! I remember when Andy built this and I loved the green spots on DY scheme with the 'Coal Thief' markings (I understand he was a key figure who in Nazism who ymbolized all things bad as far as the Nazi's were concerned and he popped up on a popular kids board game under the name 'Coal Thief'). Please correct me if I'm wrong as this is all from my memory which isn't great! When I saw this kit at a show for about £12 I snapped it up. It was an old 70's Tamiya jobbie with space for a battery and internals - I added a radio set from the spares box and other bits like that tubing on the inner wall; for a quick build using horrid tracks it looked great - it's still in my cabinet! Here's my attempt using a rough old kit - hope you don't mind:I remember Andy's build which was great so I'm waiting with baited breath to see what you can do, Tony Good luck and nice start! How many works in progress do you have at the minute out of interest? LOL! Also, I hope the weather you guys are having hasn't affected you too badly btw Tony? Ben

OK Andy Being a dry fit fanatic I think I discovered what gave you fits with those baffles. The very first one that I positioned I saw the problem right off, the baffles are longer than those slots in the left hand side walls. On the right side I had to sand a little off the notches where the brace goes over the rivet straps on the lower hull and the where it notches over the drivers roof. I'm referring to the brace right next to the radio. The three baffles on that side were not a problem. How does this look? Once the walls are glued down the small gaps will close up. Back to work, see you later Tony lee

YEP! You took care of that... now I remember one being longer than others. I wasn't sure if it was my error or it was the kit.
Looking great buddy! Man, it was fun kit despite that one part... have fun with the radio set soon... it was truly a puzzle!

What was wrong with the radio build? All I did was assemble the stack as per the instructions and all went great Andy. Added a few more part here and there too. Tomorrow is another day Tony lee

LOL! I added wirings which was a mystery due to no instructions and hard to find actual photos but Bill came to my rescue as he found a diagram of radio set.
Looking great!
