Hi Andy, sorry to come back so late! As I've already seen, you made an excellent job. I like the armour, the base for the animal (by the way what it will be? A tiger, a leopard, please look first at some photographies from nature before decide. It will help a lot!). I think you'll deal with a tiger, that's ok historically speaking (http://www.hdwallpapers.in/walls/bengal_tiger-wide.jpg), so maybe it will be important to add to your palette some colours as 70875 Beige Brown or 70872 Chocolate Brown, probably mixed with some Black. Cheers! Nicolae

Nicolae- Many thanks! I am not sure about the big cat. LOL I think its a leopard by the look of the pic on the box. Often I wonder how in the world did a fur of leopard end up in Poland if there were no leopard or were they some centuries ago? You might know how they end up in Poland? Colors look pretty bold right now and dark washes will tone down pretty much. Can't wait to resume work on it when I return home from boys spring break!
Guy- Thanks my awesome Belgian friend... cheers!

Guess what is back on the bench?!?!? LOL Wings are almost done... needs little clean up and oil washes on the black tips of feather. Closer shot of the wings... Hoping to finish this before Thanksgiving holiday weekend so that way I can start my #5 build for 2014...

Wohow, sculpting feathers must be a pain in the ..., you know what I mean. Those winged hussars are somehow cool, they look strange, Birdmen so to say, harhar! Superb paint job till now, and hopefully, now is finishing time! By the way, the link to this forum does not work, Andy!

Thanks man! It was not easy cleaning them up because they are very fragile when you free them from the sprue. After that it has been fun... black primer, off white base paint, then oil washes raw umber, then highlighted with white paint. Next I will highlight the black tips and apply some kind of light grey oil wash too.
Yeah, that was the old forum it was shut down over the summer we can't get there anymore. I miss that old site!!!

Tjaha, those elder stuff. Sometimes it haunts you from the day you see it again in your stash and only becomes quiet after finishing. I am hauted a hundred times, by the way... But anyway, now it is finishing time and you should take care of this Dude. Think of the haunting...

Hi Andy, this is coming along nicely, one of the lads at the Darlington Military Modeling Society (shameless plug) suggested using real feathers for the wings, after we finished laughing he explained that small feathers used by fishermen for tying flies were what he had in mind. On your side of the pond has anyone else thought of that? I saw an Airbrush DVD by Geoff Isley some time ago where he airbrushed small feathers with oil paint so I guess this is where he got the idea. Looking forward to seeing more. Dennis

Frank- Thanks buddy... glad you like it so far. I use Vallejo pretty much now. Blame Todd and Rob for twisting my arms... Dennis- That's funny because I thought about doing using real feathers I even googled but I couldn't find a good match then realized maybe it is too risky to paint the feathers. I'd love to see pictures of that one day!!! In some way it may be easier using real feathers cause I spent so much time cleaning and painting the feathers. I am glad you brought this up... Hope it comes out as good as your figures! LOL Happy to have you tagging along mate!

Years ago I have seen pics about a jungle Diorama (Vietnam) with a Huey and some figures. The Builder uses Feathers for FARNS and if I had not read this I had no idea what he did. Looked way cool and I guess it is a great idea to examine all things you might think are usefull. Even if it may sound rediculous, what´s count is only the look of the finished piece!
