It's a big gun.... So, speaking of the big gun, I did the recuperator/equilibrator thingie on the turret last night, subbed rod stock for the HB pistons, Vallejo putty for welds, filled the holes for the shroud which I won't be using, since I'm going to build the Super as it appears here: Picture posted for discussion purposes only, from Squadron's Pershing Walk Around book. Apparently the 3rd AD attached the mantlet armor first, then added the mantlet bat wings and stowage baskets later. I'm building the tank as it appears in the above pic, which is posted for discussion purposes only... So while I had the turret in my hot sweaty hands, I also installed the cupola and loader's hatch ring, drilled out the vision blocks in the commander's cupola, and installed his hatch on some brass tube to make it look better, and it's workable, since I can't decide if I want a figgie yet. Pics: Also evident is the absence of the left side track tool, it's space being taken be extra track links. No prob....

I keep thinking about an IDF Pershing "what-if" with the French 105 from the M51, and I'm going to have some spare M-51 parts here shortly.....

Turret's looking good Russ! As for that what-if IDF...that would be cool! Thanks Bill. And I'm going to have to do something that's conjectural here soon, for therapy. I need another dose of this: Sometimes, ya just gotta do it.....

Is that an M109 barrel mounted on there? KA-BOOOOM! Sort of, the muzzle brake is, the barrel is from the old Academy M1A1; remember the one that had the bore evacuator so big it looked like a caricature?

I really like it Thanks, Lui. I had to do it, couldn't help myself. The sweetest part about it was nobody could say: "Oh, great model but it's ruined because the IDF never put that widget on that tank when it was that color."

LOL, don't ever build a russian tank and show it to a russian modeller then Count on it! There's a few good reasons I don't post a lot of what I build, and why there's a few tanks I don't build at all, and a couple of forums I have NO interest in sharing work on. But sometimes, ya just gotta let yer hair down. And me being me, the Pershing is still on the bench, but sharing space and time with the Sherman I just started, but I am committed (or might be) to finishing both of these before Christmas. Right.

Small update: Based on info from a very good source, I trimmed the front fender braces and shaved off the vents on all the fender box lids, which you can't even see in the pics, but hey, my meds ran out. Onward and in between Sherman parts.....

Catching up... always learning something about your builds. Perhaps I will let you build all of my IDF kits if I ever get them.

Thanks, Anthony. I'm almost to the painting stage on the Sherman, so I hope to get back at this one shortly, and maybe my RB barrel will be here by then.....

Still playing...... Spare tracks, loader's hatch, 50 cal, tow cable brackets. HB's loader's hatch was kinda funky, so I used a Dragon part, I like it better.

50 cal looking good... did you drill deeper holes on the barrel?

Thanks, and no, it's Tasca, OOB except for the Academy charging handle, cuz I broke the Tasca part. Tasca's 50 cals are the best plastic example on the planet, period. They're pricey, $15 or so for a pair, but they are stupid good.

Bet the loader had to remember when/if that .50 was stowed or not before poking his head up too quickly! Nice progress as usual Russ.

Yep, that could hurt..... Good thing I look at pics, I see I need to add more spare track holders..... HB only has three links on the turret side, which I slavishly imitated. Must be because a couple were removed to make room for the "bat wing" mantlet armor extensions, which I'm not using.

Love a the detail you've added up to here. It's always this stage I begin to become terrified of breaking things off before the paint is done.

Thanks, gents. A bit from last night, while listening to the Royals whup on SF...... I have a pic of the T-26E1, #1, before it was built into the Super, and it has the drivers' hood basket on the turret right side, so I thinned up a Tamiya part and put it on. I also did the rest of the spare track mounts on the turret left side. I think all I have left is the gun cradle, and if I can find the mounts I made up for it last week, I have the rest of the bits on hand. Still waiting on the RB barrel, plastic part still has a slight warp, dang it.
