Glad you mentioned toning down some of the streaks, Andy. The ones on the bolt lines of the conning tower just seem too uniform as they are.
Things are definitely progressing in the right direction!

Thanks Bob! Yep, that was my plan those streaks were still wet and they look stronger when I took pics. This morning I used stiff paintbrush to tone them down without using a thinner and they looks better now. Sometimes it is best to allow those oil or enamel paint to dry overnight so you can re-work on them.

You guys and your awesome submarines....so jealous...much envy...wow...
Really liking the streaking it. Blending it some more will really make things pop.
Did you just use oils or a specific streaking product (AK or Ammo maybe?)

LOL! Thanks my friend! Glad you like so far... hope to finish it over the weekend. Its not done yet... still needs little more work on it.
Yes, I used AK streaking products. They are great and they last forever... bought them 2 or 3 years ago and still have plenty. Instead of AK White Spirit, I use Mona Lisa Odorless paint thinner. I find it to be softer and I can handle the smell too! LOL AK White spirit was too strong that often it would wipe my work away too easily!
You can buy like half gallon from Michael's or Hobby Lobby and it lasts forever too!!! Much cheaper too...

Thanks professor! I think I can see the finish line from here... no need to scream 'run, run, run!' I can't hear you at all unless you want to learn American Sign Language (ASL)? LOL

Andy, I use the Mona Lisa too. Great stuff. I have a couple bottles of the AK streaking (grime and rust). I generally reserve them for armor (which I've not done any in a while)...though I've used them in a couple of instances on airplanes. I do like them though. I sensed thats what you had used here.

AWESOME!!! That stuff is definitely great for sure! I lost count how many AK/MIG/AMMO bottles I have on my shelves. LOL
Sounds like you are OVERDUE for an armor build? Maybe we can make a deal... I will build something with wings while you do an armor? LOL Yes, I am planning my first wingy build later this year... it has been like 30 years since my last wingy build.

Hehe. Very soon, buddy. I've got me a little something on the UPS truck (or plane at this point maybe) headed this way. Hopefully it'll be here in the next couple of days. Long over due for some armour. Stay tuned.

I am planning my first wingy build later this year.

I see you're making your rounds. My whole first page of "recent threads" has you as the last commenter...here I thought I was the only one still up at this hour And I was about to go to bed too...but now I think I'm just going to sit here and drool for a bit longer. That is absolutely spectacular. You too a killer build and make it more murderous with that base. So dang cool.

LOL! I am always a night owl! And boys have two hours delay to school tomorrow due to wind chill so we get to sleep in. Yay!
Glad you like it so far... can't wait to finish it. Thanks my friend! I am aiming for March 1st! It will be interesting to see when I add green grime to the base next...

Delta- You snuck in one while I was replying to Jimmy's post. LOL Glad you like it too... thanks bro! I had to grab that dock kit when I saw it at the hobby shop. Sure beats sitting on a flat base.

Marc- LOL I wish I have gone for 1/72 but I wanted to stay with 1/48 for all wingy builds if possible. I didn't realize how huge it was when the kit arrived on my doorstep! DAMN! I have gotten most of aftermarkets for this since it is pretty old Monogram kit. Only need metal barrels for the machine guns.. hoping to get them at upcoming shows. If not then I will order them from RB all the way from Poland.
Bob- You are too funny and too nice too! Can't wait to finish this...
Terry- Thanks my friend!!!

Need to build 80 kits per year until I'm 100 to deplete my stash. Maybe I should sell a couple.

That's really nice looking, Andy. It looks like you've mastered working with the AK stuff. I might be looking your way for some tutorials on that one for my mud and dust effects stuff.
