Ty deafpanzer and wbill Looks nice, Oli. Which ship is it? Any historical model i think... But why in the next winter? Its march and winter will start in december. Wouldnt it be nice to imagine sitting in the garden, drinking a beer on a warm summer eve. And building your model?

Thank you Leon Hope I will mostly finish the terrain (except ocean) tomorrow. Today I colored some saw dust with 4 different shades of hmmm... dark pink? The color heather has In 4 shades it looks more realistic. A few weeks ago I already tried to get the heathers color but failed. Now I think it looks fine. I will take some new pics tomorrow And when the terrain ist ready so far I will place the stable for my sheeps. I have found a really great tut to build hay bales in the board. I think it would be nice to place some in the stable

Like your steps Angi. Adding the handrail really changes them.
Your airbrushed ladybird is very nice. You have many talents ! I should try to learn more about using one. I have never used mine for anything apart from painting parts for my dioramas.

the ship is the brig badger, one of the ships under lord nelsons command...
i don't know why winter... but i feel building my ship is a winter task and i do not have a garden in which i could build in a nice summer eve... ;-) and taking everything four stairs down into the garden... ohhh no... ;-)

Thank you, Peter. Ok, Oli, that's an argument. Four stairs are too much. But I am very exciting to see your ship beeing built

ohhh me too.. still not sure how to finish it, leave it clean on a stand or bring it weathered on the rough sea... :-) getting figures in that scale is not so easy... and sculpting them by myself... no... ;-)

What scale is it? My ship is 1/35. The best scale to get figures and acceccoires. The difficulty with that scale ist to decide what to take

1/64 in Model Rail Road world is S scale. I think not so uncommon in the USA. So by searching ebay and model train dealers for S scale figures I think you can find figures ok. Good luck.

i think finding historic figures based in the time and marine based is eventually the problem... i already did the research since 2012... there were only a small set of figures available from krick in germany...
but looking into the railroad sector is a good suggestion i will follow... :-)

Hi guys, I didn't have been inactive in the last few days. I wanted my lighthouse to work. So I did a little bit electrical work (not easy when you're a dummy) and I was successful I'm proud to present you my first lighthouse video

Looks really good! Is there a "reflector" inside?? And great to see how big this dio is, compared to the furniture. By the way, I love books a lot, so whats up in the shelfs??

Yes, Frank, I used a reflector for the LED. The mirror is made of alumium but that alone brought not enough light. I now have to reduce the lightroom window. There's not enough space at the top for the cable and the mirror. I think, I will make another row of rivets and steel. Actually I improvised with a black tape The ground plate of the dio is 60x40 cm There are no books in the shelf behind the dio. That's all DVDs. With every move in the last years I spent a lot of book to the give boxes in Duesseldorf. At least there are only a few "real" books I kept. Only those ones I like most Otherwise I have hundreds of ebooks. They are much easier to take when moving

Ah, I see! E-boobs aren´t my cup of tea, I have to smell the paper and take a grip on the book. But the best argument against them is their weight of cause!

Yep... One of my favorite books has the weight of a barrel of beer I guess "Cryptonomicon" written by Neal Stephenson. It's too heavy to hold it for longer reading.

Thanks, Leon It took a lot of time to find the right way for a real looking light. I tried an other light before but I did not like it. Then I asked the guys on the board and at least we got that. I am very happy that it works like I hoped

Well worth the effort Angi, it will definitely bring the whole scene to life! Just don't turn it on at night near a window or you might get an interesting call from the neighbors about 'flashing lights'!

Wow, truly impressive. It is one thing to create what you did in scale, it is another to make it functional.

The wooden wall boards in photos 6 and 7 look really good, excellent weathering ! . I hope you don't mind me saying - looking at the photo of the roof Photo #8, I think a little more colour variation would be good. Possibly some light rust tone dry brushing or lighter faded tone dry brushing if the structure is solid enough to stand the pressure now it is assembled. No criticism, just a suggestion. Your vegetation is also looking great.

Yes, Peter, you're right. IMO the roof is one of the most difficult items on the dio I tried a few times to get it better but failed every time. I will try it another time and maybe I success I also thaught about a new roof. Building that with tar.

Yes, Peter, you're right. IMO the roof is one of the most difficult items on the dio I tried a few times to get it better but failed every time. I will try it another time and maybe I success I also thaught about a new roof. Building that with tar. This modelling is a continual learning journey. I have used corrugated cardboard several times but not as a roof yet. I used it as a garage door and a fence only so far. As it is not an expensive material maybe you could cut out about 4 pieces the size of the roof and lay them out and try different painting combinations and see which you prefer. I like to paint it with Tamiya Flat Aluminium - Paint code XF16 then put a black wash over it. Looks a bit like old galvanised iron. After seeing some of your painting, possibly I should not be offering any advice as you are far more skilled than I. For a lady who can build a working light house I am confident the roof can not be to great a challenge.
And......did you see John T 's corrugated iron roof made from the aluminium foil pie dish in Queensland Miners cottage - Fantastic.

Hey Peter, I have to order all colors for modeling cause there's no shop in town where I could buy it. But I have a flat sheet of aluminium. That would be good for a roof I think. What would you advice to weather it? I have a few Tamiya and a little more Valejo colors. But no washings for far. For my rust effects I use real rust but I am thinking about a 2k rust kit.
I can't believe what you are saying! I really don't think that I am more skilled than you. Never! Look at your work my friend! It is so wonderful.
