This is the start of another try by me for the perfect build though I really think either the kit makers will get rich or I will die before that happens. I am taking a chance posting this here because this vehicle fought on many fronts for many years before retiring in 1945, however, since it was built originally in 1920 I am taking a chance that pre WW II will be were it fits.
I do not like to have two builds going at the same time but I am waiting for a Bronco Humber Mark II which is supposed to have a near identical turret as the Vickers Mark VI C and I need to make some things to finfish my turret so I am in a holding pattern on that build.
Is there anyone here that can tell me what color the engine was on the Rolls Royce as I want to build it with an open hood?

Nice one TB - the RRAC is the one kit I REALLY want to build but for some reason I cannot find a cheap kit - all the ones I have found have been silly money Oh well....... The engine and all fittings below the hood are semi-gloss black sir Thank you on the color that was a big help, all those old car makers loved black paint. I just watched e-bay and when one come by under $30 I would bid the full $30 and eventually I got this one and one with sand tires for later. You have to watch the postage which I am sure you well know but I found it was best to bid the full amount you would pay because little bids just encouraged other bidders, if some one was going to go over my $30 I just let it go. I think I got both of them for $25 plus. The sand tire one was the hardest to get as it seemed to be fewer of them and people bid higher on them also.

The engine and all fittings below the hood are semi-gloss black sir Dicky, Depending on your retailer source, this one hovers around the $45-50 range consistently. Not sure if that qualifies as 'silly money' price range for your budget or not! Roden kits don't come cheaply since they aren't distributed widely and they don't produce large batches, so I suppose some supply/demand issues are inevitable in the price economics equation!

Count me in! Is it the same armor that made special appearances in the movie Lawrence of Arabia? The same car except Lawrence used duel tires front and back, must have been a killer to steer and ole TE was not a muscular man but he was in good shape from hiking and bicycling, he walked over much of Iraq and Syria before the war and it was why he was selected for the service. A briliant man who Churchill called a savant and was always available to him by phone but Lawrence an extremely principled man never traded on his acquaintances. If he would have been a politican like Nixon, Clinton or the Bushes he would have just passed off the actions of Balfour and the French and gone on to a brilliant career but instead he translated books and worked as a mechanic, a terrible waste of such talent. www.historynet.com/rolls-royce-armored-car-the-bulletproof-ghost.htmscratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/Rolls_Royce_Armoured_Cars

Andrey is many times the artist I am when it comes to model building, that is truly an award winning great build on the best pro level. By comparison I am just a hacker or butcher when it comes to talent in building but I enjoy doing it and on occasion I get a good mediocre one. Attached are tow shots of a cheap RPM kit of a pre war armored car that I built.

I’m not sure that there is enough time for me to get much better than I am due to being 75 years old and getting shakier every day but I will keep at it. Its interesting how they started out with camo in 1920's I don’t know if it was a lack of flat paints or just no eye for it.

No it was a fun and educational build; it was the first time I ever really cut a model open to show the inside. The only unfortunate part was the kit is badly out of scale, instead of being 1/35 as it says on the box it is probably about 1/41 or it is just way off. The wheels are scale but when I built the engine the frame is only half as wide as it should be.

I'm back with some pictures. The first one is of the tires and gas tank, rifles, and front axle. The tires are basically the second step building the engine is the first step but I have put that off a little as I get acclimatized to this kit. The kit has some good points and some not so good but not to many I would classify as bad. The wheels went together nicely so far, a reviewer had written that you needed to assemble the wheels and tires as one unit. Looking at them I did not think that was necessary and glued up the wheels and ground the tires slipped right onto them The rifles are not the best, flash all the way around and sink marks on the stocks. all fixable.
Had some problems this morning with the net or photo-bucket, could not get my pictures to upload but it worked after lunch.

Next we have the cabin sides, wheels, and a fender showing the large amount of pin marks requiring touch up you'll see later how the pin marks are half sunken and half sticking up proudly. It looks to me like when forming the forms opened to soon, a lot of the index pins and the adjoin female indexes require careful dry fitting because most do not fit flush without some minor surgery and sanding. Most of the holes need to be reamed on one side which is strange. Possibly another molding problem, on some of the smaller engine parts the holes and pins do not have the sharp edges that you would expect. Not to much of a problem on the larger parts. Almost every part is held to the sprue at three points which fills the part real well but lots of clean up.

Next we have some changes needed for the engine, real engine is a very complex engine design maybe one of the most complex I have every seen with an automotive engine. It is fired by what appear to be two magneto's, I don't see a generator so for now I'm going with magnetos which spark 12 sparkplugs in 6 cylinders and the plumbing for the coolant is really a plumbers nightmare. It also looks as though it uses exhaust gases to pre-warm the intake but I'm not certain.
In any event the kit cast 6 proud sparkplugs and 6 junior sized plugs as I have replaced the juniors with styrene rod. Also on the left corner of the heads there are brass hex plugs the appear to plug the water jackets. The kit casts these as small bumps so I cleaned them off and took some Tichey Train hex bolts and thinned them to replaced the bumps. Does not show to well and I will work on that with future photo sessions.

An original engine showing the detail fun that could be had by a very talented builder, believe me mine will be considerably simpler than this, like light years.

Another picture shown is the portion of the hood where the real car had handles like big door handles to lift off the side curtain of the engine compartments bonnet.
