Well teabone I have to commend you on doing such a good job. I have started my 1914 pattern Rolls Royce Armoured car now and am finding it not so easy. The pieces need a lot of dry fitting before any glue goes near it. Steve

There are some areas that need some help for sure, watch how you do the wheels and tires, I was not real careful and tore some of the rim off with the tire. I found you can heat the tire with a hair dryer and it makes it a little more elastic for installation. The other option is to assemble the tire on the wheel when putting the wheels together. I like to paint my wheels first when faced with those vinyl tires which are really not a very good idea to start with. The rest of the problems require a little "artistic" license while assembling. Watch the back door hinges, the depressions on the car body serve no purpose I could find.

Steve
Also if you try to open up the radiator doors the headlights get to be almost impossible to install.

Thanks for the tips I will keep them in mind while I work on it. Steve Ask any questions you like, I forgot that you are on the spoke wheel version so my wheel advice may not apply.

I have made the spoked wheels took a few moments to make sure I knew what was what first. They were very easy to make fit was very good. The etched brass makes them look very good indeed. By the way I work in the Nissan factory making cars in the UK. Glad we have given up making spoked wheels, that would drive my crazy. Steve

It is good to hear that the spoke wheels are looking good, that was one of my fears when looking at that kit. If the spoke wheels were bad a guy might as well throw away the whole kit.
I do not know how a factory laces a spoked wheel but when you lace one in a shop for a motorcycle it is a rather tedious process to get the wheel to balance.
Henry Ford had the wooden spoke wheel thing down to a science with a few machine moves that would most likely be automated now.
Nice to hear you are making progress with that kit.

If you want some reference pics let me know I have some nice ones. Be careful with the wheels, see above notes in the thread.

Almost finished just a little more weathering to do. I am a slow builder as I have to keep the wife happy by talking to her now and then. Steve

I have to say that slow paid off very well, that is a very nice looking build. The paint job and streaking really set it off and the spokes came out good, I think that version is better than the solid wheel kit for final appearance. Thanks for sharing that build with me.
Of course as Andy noted making the wife happy is at the top of a good modelers list.

It is looking great... nice streaks! Glad you remember the golden rule... always keep the wife happy! Yes the streaks are made using a artists water colour pencil. These can be bought at art shops just pick the colours that you want. Don't dip them in water as they will become to soft. Just dab them on a damp cloth or as I do use your tongue. They work fine for me the dryer they are the finer the line. Mistakes can be washed away with a brush dipped in water. Steve
