I thin Model Color Acrylics with tap water, but I try to keep some in a jar on my bench, so in a way it is somewhat distilled. As far as PSI, I'd say 15-20 but I'm not sure, I've been using an old Craftsmen compressor I got at a garage sale for 5$ last summer and I haven't bothered to install my gauge on it:) It works though and I"m kind of a trial and error kind of fella any who, I just eye it up and feel it out;)

I"m kind of a trial and error kind of fella any who, I just eye it up and feel it out;) Me too Nate, sight and feel. Ill tell ya, had i to do it over, i would got a Harbor Freight Compressor for $60 - $70 bucks instead of the expensive Iwata. I love it but it cost too dang much!

Gary: My dad is a retired Carpenter/Contractor who ran his own business and he gave me one of his old portable compressors to use in my garage (20 gallon/120 PSI ) but obviously it is loud, so when I first started, I invested in an air tank and some guages/fittings and I rigged up a super quiet , adjustable PSI air source for about a 50$ investment. The only catch being, I had to run out to the garage to refill when my pressure started dropping off. I could usually get through most of the work on one model before having to refill though. Works pretty good, I just lucked out and found the other compressor so cheap, I've been using that:). I gotta get the other rigged up better for my Iwata Neo AB though. So then I can use two AB:)
Ironhand: Anytime, sir. This is how we gradually get better. Practice and with a lot of help from our friends:)
Luigi: Thanks. I know the T-34 is one curvy girl, isn't she?
Leon: Thank you sir.
BJ: Thanks, Just a little country boy improvisation!

Hi Multicam,
I hate to bring this up now but the side engine deck louvers(with the vertical braces) are sticking out too far, they should be flush with the hull...maybe you can re-insert them?
This is clearly shown in step # 9.
Another issue with these early T-34 kits from Dragon is the lower hull protrusions next to the axle arms should not be raised, the bolts should be flush with the hull, and only one bumper stop on the first wheel position...not a knock on your effort, just info for future reference, if interested.
Otherwise really nice job, would love to see how you weather it.
Regards, Paul

Thanks for the info, Paul. At this point there aren't going to be any changes to the construction;). I'll keep it in mind for my next T-34 build. Thanks for looking in.

Thanks Bill. Appreciate you looking in man. Just a brief one, fellas. Got the wheels caught up with the rest of the paintwork. I left the vallejo primer on these so as not to have to wholly redo the tire black hand painting. I'll just need to touch things up a bit later. Hopefully, I don't regret this decision down the road. I also did one filter coat on the rest of the tank. Heavily thinned oil, earth hue green it's called. Kind of a grayish green tone. First coat looks good. I'll do another coat and share a pic. Any recommendations on the markings for this? All the references I can find either don't match the kit or the year. The two in box designations don't appeal to me and I've read in some reviews that the other (kinda cool) slogans/markings don't fit the kit/timeframe. I also have a cool eduard mask set for the T-34/76 but after looking at it closely, it's for a 1943 version, which itself has a different turret. Thinking about just throwing some random numbers on there and being done with it. Would appreciate some advice/input, expert or otherwise:) Thanks for looking! Cheers Nate

Nice work on the wheels Nate, wish I could help on the markings side of things but my references are pretty thin when it comes to the Russky gear unfortunately. Hopefully Luigi or maybe Tony can help you out.

Those wheels look great already Nate. I'm afraid I can't help you with the markings question ...I'm not an expert in these things. Can't you find some clear and reliable reference pics on the internet ?

Thanks guys, I'm still searching too. Found some really cool wrecks that just may inspire future builds, but I may end up doing this one in the foreground For reference/discussion purposes only I may just go ahead and paint some random numbers from my mask set just to give the model more interest. From what I gather in my research, the Russian number "system" was actually not to have a number system, meaning the tank unit/number/tactical designations were locally not centrally decided and frequently changed to stifle German Intelligence.

The EESTI tanks aren't mod. 1941, though. I switched to a blank one for the same reasons as yours.
If I recall correctly, these are mostly 1942 tanks...

You're right Nate the Soviets weren't too keen on marking. The numbers were the same tactic as the Flying Tigers spinner colors for fooling the enemy into thinking there was more of them than there were. The Red Star was used on captured equipment more than anything else. Just do your own thing and be happy with it,they did. Tony lee

Luigi: Cheers Bud, thanks for the info. I was going by web site info and wasn't able to double check it. With the exception of the handrails on the turret, looks mighty close to me:) Thanks again, buddy:)
Tony: Thanks for the confirmation Uncle Tony, I feel like France in '44.... liberated.... now that you have chimed in on !the issue:). I would have probably done whatever I wanted anyway, but it does feel good to have some "wisdom" covering my back;)
Heinz: you're too kind, but thanks!
Ogrejohn: Thanks for looking in! Nice signature;) ( I fart in your general direction)
SteveReid may have something up his sleeve yet for me as well:)

Archer Transfer offers many great decals for T-34... prices are pretty reasonable. I recently ordered two sets from them few minutes ago for my DUKW. LOL

Nate- Tony is right on! In 1941 most tanks like yours would have been sporting a coat of solid green.
But adding some markings will make it more interesting....
I am all for modeling the one vehicle that was never photographed. :-)
If you like T-34's build lots of them and try to improve with each attempt. Trying to build the perfect model is a recipe for burnout!
This one is looking great!
Andy is correct- those Archer dry transfers are excellent! A joy to use and one set will give you several options.

Thanks fellas. Your input is appreciated.
Steve: I'll definitely be building another one in the future, though I got a full plate for the foreseeable future:) Improving with each attempt is what I aim for, lately I'm just trying to slow down and improve as much as possible. I got at least three other projects going, so it's not the only thing I have on my mind:). I also invested more in AM on this one, than I ever have so I'm trying to make it my best work so far. Thanks again. Your thoughts is very much welcomed:)
