Look at the turrets, they're all cast turrets. Yours is a welded one I can't find any welded turret with a slogan on, but I've too much books to go through

Ok, fellas a quick update. I finally took some time on the T-34 and I finally made a decision about markings. Eduard masks. These were vinyl and not the foil stuff like the German cross set that I have. The foil definitely works better. These did work good, they just took a little more care. Paint. Vallejo white thinned with water and Airbrushed. Just have to make sure you aim straight at the paint area and not angle your AB. Also, slow and thin spray. Let it dry and hit it again. Alot better than having paint run under your masks. I love the way they turned out Let me know what you think.

Andy: I agree completely. I got a mask set for German Balkenkreuze and I'm hooked. I think if you can paint it on, that it definitely looks better:)
Luigi: Grazie!
Clint: That's cool. What show is that? And do you know the details?
Thanks for looking in, guys:)

Came out looking perfect Lui! Nothing creates the look of 'painted on' like painting it on! Once you get the weathering in place they will be right at home for sure.

Looks great Nate!
I have never used that type of stencil but you achieved a nice result with it. Bring on the weathering!

Got some more work done on this one guys. I forgot to mention in the previous update that I used HS before I masked the white markings off. So, today I gently chipped them with a stiff brush. I also started painting on the chipping of the rest of the vehicle. Trying to be subtle with this one. I did the turret, top and front glacis/fenders. Next step will be to finish chipping the sides, rear, and underside. Then I'll go back over most of the chipping with a light highlight to try to add dimension. Then more green oil filter, Clear coat, AK wash, then more oil work, then some dirt, dust, and mud:). Lots yet to do, but boy is this one fun. Let me know what you think and thanks for looking.

Man, now I am really sold about using stencils. You will help me find those stencils at next model show, right?

Great idea with the masks, and I like the chipped effect....they were usually hand painted anyway.

Thanks guys, your comments are appreciated! Bill: Thanks, subtle is what i'm shooting for and it's a fine line. To work a few hours doing something and to barely see it. I'm hoping the time will pay off in the end though:) T: Break it out man, it's been a fun one. Ogrejohn: Yeah, they work great and if you can get the foil type ones and not the vinyl, even better. Paul: Thanks, the HS technique does allow for some authentic layering that is hard to beat visually and difficult to achieve by other means:) More chipping. Still not done but I really like the way it is looking. I started with a brownish grey ( Vallejo black grey and Germ. cam med. brown) and then went back and highlighted the outline of the earlier chips with a light grey/green (vallejo med grey/russian green). Sorry for the weird angle on the pics. I tried to mount it on a stick for ease of handling, but it messing with my picture taking:). Well, anyway, I think it's looking decent so far and will blend a little more with the grey/green oil filters. Thanks for stopping in:) All comments welcome. Nate

From what I've seen of the Russian green Nate, I'd say you nailed this one!
Really good painting...

Making good progress Nate. I hear you about trying to take good camera angles for things...always a challenge when you need to show a subtle effect at an unusual position!
