@steve Zuleski: do you have some pictures of this M48 and its engine? I started the weathering of the interior and the engine, but at the moment I am not very pleased with it. This evening I will post some pictures of it.

You are so right, Steve. Every time, I built a new model, I have learned some new techniques. That's the reason, I try from time to time new techniques and effects. The handling with brass sheets and pe parts was very difficult for me when I started. But now I would use this material for every tanks fenders.

Agree with the others, not overdone at all. Will make for a great view of the detail that can be seen once the hull is attached.

I am glad to see, that you like the weathering effect of the interior. Today I will go back to the brass parts and the fenders. All the boxes on the fenders will be made by myself. Much work for the next days, isn't it? But I have one big problem, I have no idea how to make the 'x' on the rear fenders. The brass sheets are too strong, to push it through. Maybe one of you guys has a helpful idea for me?

Thank you jackwagon for the advice with the foil. I tried this technique today and the result looks very good (in my opinion). It`s very easy to do and looks nearly like the original one. I am looking for such tips from time to time, but only a few modelers show some of their tricks and techniques. That`s the reason, why I want to show the process of these 'x' on the rear fenders. 5DMKII_20858 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr I used a aluminium foil from a barbecue pan. The original part was the old fender from the Patton, which I chopped of. 5DMKII_20859 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr I fixed the foil on the fender with the 'x'... 5DMKII_20861 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr ...and burnished the detail through the foil. 5DMKII_20862 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr Here the result. 5DMKII_20863 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr And the finished 'x' on the fender.

That's the way Matt Glad you got on ok, looks like you achieved the desired result I have no time for anyone that doesn't care to share techniques....the majority of us are simply looking to improve to whatever standard they wish and the only way to do that is by sharing the 'How to' and the 'How Not to' My only suggestion would be have the BBQ first then use the foil from the washed up pan!!! Amen! Never understood why some think they have to keep secrets from other builders. It's not like it's the combination to Ft. Knox or something similar. Dicky's suggestion regarding the order off the BBQ in the process is also spot on.

Great job with the foil, Matt.
I agree with Dicky and Bill, it's a nonsense to keep the techniques secret and it doesn't help to improve. Sharing and discussing is the only way to grow and improve, IMHO.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I worked on the hull today. It's nearly finished. The next step will be the turret and the 'damage' areas on the complete tank, like bending some of the fenders. Some parts of the fenders will be perforated by rust. This tank will look like an old tank in a museum, not like a totally destroyed tank.

Hi folks, like I promised yesterday, here a little update of the Patton. I built all the small detail on the hull, dented the fenders a little bit and made a second box. It needs much time, to make such a box out of a brass sheet. So I hope, I will finish the last box tomorrow. 5DMKII_20866 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_20870 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_20871 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr

The time you're putting into the brass work is paying off Matt. Those dented up fenders and boxes are going to really make this one stand out.

Thanks to all of you. Today I finished the last box on the fenders. A few little details and the hull is finished. I want to make some holes in the fenders because of rust. 5DMKII_20875 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_20877 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr
