Outstanding job, Matt. The rust on the gun and all the interiors are spot on. Can't wait to see more

Hi my friends, Yesterday I primed the lower hull, but today I have realized, that the paint comes off in some areas. Most of these areas were covered with flux for the soldering. Do you guys have an idea, what I can do to fix the primer on the brass part/ flux areas. I tried to clean the brass with isopropanol, but I am not sure if it works...

Matt, if I'm not mistaken, that flux should come off with soap and warm to hot water, (lemon dish soap cuts thru grease best), so give it a bath in the kitchen sink (dunk) and see if it comes off. Maybe a light brushing with an older tooth brush to get a bit of scrubbing, but not much.
That bath certainly won't hurt anything else if all the paint is dried completely, but dry the hull and the rest with a hair dryer right away after a full rinse. "IF" you run into trouble you can always go back and do minor touch ups. I imagine the primer may have some marks left over, but not too bad since it's the hull section.
I used Rob's rust method (Salt and Hair Spray)on a fencing system for the first time ever on my "Knock and Talk" dio and had tons of flux residue left over. I gave it a quick bath in lemon dish soap and all that garb went down the drain. Give it a try and let us know if you have problems, but that should do the trick buddy.
The prep work and detail you are investing in this rig is really paying off Matt, so RuckOver Baby! I'm diggin the process.
Cheers, Ski.

What kind of primer do you use? I usually use Mr. Surfacer 1200-1000, and sometimes "Krylon" Grey Primer straight from the can. Just depends on how fine of a coat I need. I also have Polly S primer in a bottle/enamel base. Hope all works well Bro. Cheers, Ski.

Dicky, what`s the matter? Thanks Leon, later when the tank is finished I will try to make some 'interior pictures'. I hope my camera can handle it ...ahhh Dicky, all right. I love primer shots, too.

Nice upgrades on the turret. You have to remember that Dicky requires his own deciphering key at times, bless him!

Great job on those wheels. What tool did you use on the dremel to achieve such a natural worn look?

I am happy, you like it. Luigi I used a diamond point with a size of 1mm to make the rust holes. I made it from behind the wheel, to get a more realistic look. (OMG... my english is terrible!!! ) 5DMKII_20996 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr Here you can see the diamond point and the dremel 5DMKII_20998 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_20999 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr I also painted the first layer of rust brown, but I had not very much time in the afternoon. Some more layers of lighter rust colors will follow the next days... I hope. After this, I will paint some rust effect by brush. 5DMKII_21000 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr Have a nice weekend.

Good evening gentlemen, it`s time for the first rust pictures. And here it comes... 5DMKII_21001 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_21007 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_21032 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr I used the rust color set from ak and airbrushed some layers of shadow rust and old rust. Some details were added with dark rust, medium rust and light rust. After this I used a sponge to make some chipping effects here and there. Some areas were painted with thinned medium rust and light rust, too.

Thanks friends...
... but this is only the first step. I wanne make two different layers of color/ camo. The first one will be a dark green, which will be chipped. After this a light green will follow - also with some chipping. I hope to start with the dark green layer soon.
But I have another big problem - the tracks!!! I already have the AFV club tracks for the M46, but these sucks! Today I tried to make some of these tracks and it was really hard to build them together. Does someone of you have an idea, where I can find some metal tracks, which fit on that kit (M47 Patton Italery)? Friul has a new tracks kit for the Isherman M51, but the part in the middle is not correct and I don`t know whether these will fit correctly.
Cheers, Matt.

@ Dicky: I have searched the whole internet for some M47 tracks, but there is nothing. Only the AVF club crap.
