Hey guys, doubt there will be sufficient interest to put it to a poll but thank you anyway.
Silver sounds like a possible go Jeff, only reason I wanted to move away from the black is that it all looks a bit err, black!
Just thought a different colour might set it orfe nicely, we will see. I have been all over the Hiroboy website like a rash looking at paint colours, found a good blue, found a good red, will go hunt for a silver now. Black is easy, Humbrol Satin Black goes on really well and looks to have an identical finish. Want to experiment with different paint for the frame as well, hmm.
James, hi buddy and many thanks for the kind words on the AM. In answer to your question, neither!, it's not released until the 30th so I'm sitting here twiddling me thumbs and waiting for a shipping notification from HLJ.

Oo Jeff, spoiler alert! I really like the semi Matt finish of the black one but was considering something a little brighter, the 2013 model I believe comes in blue and red. I haven't made a firm decision yet but I fancy the blue. If you can believe the internet there is a silver available also that might look pretty sweet. Just taken a look at the Pearl Silver Jeff, if I can find something suitable, that as you say would look really good. Thanks for the heads up buddy.

Do we have a ELD? Estimated landing date?

Err, oo, erm, hmm. Assuming Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs don't take an over active interest in it, I'm expecting 17th or 18th, if I don't see it by the 21st, assume the boys at HMRC are sticking it together themselves.

I'm cool, 95% of the kits I buy come from the Far East and only two have ever been delayed. Fingers crossed this doesn't make three!

Would this be a bad time to point out we don't have to pay Customs/ Duties on imported models here in the States? Since I ship almost everything from HLJ via FedEx, I believe the longest USCBP delay I've faced is 3 hours.

tends to be a bit more extreme than that over here, count the delay in days rather than hours! Like I say, I'm cool, if I do pay charges then hey, not good but I would still be well in pocket overall compared to buying the same kits here in the UK. We will see, I can wait, after all, this has been on preorder since mid August...

That's good news Mence, I'm looking forward to seeing you build this one mate.
I noticed yesterday that there was one of these on eBay already, coming from Hong Kong.
Best Regards
Keith

Yes mate, you're right, they mysteriously appeared a day before the official release. Fortunately, the price I got from HLJ is still a touch cheaper.

Sir I don't mean to intimidate you, or perhaps torture you...but that Harley looks to be really something. I don't believe I've ever seen a model kit come with a set of box wrenches and so many hex nuts. Pictures of the Parts & Instruction Booklet

Hi James. She's a beauty for sure! I have studied the instructions on 1999.com since they posted them up there last week and it's looking like a great build.i calculated approx 180 metal fixings plus the usual styrene, tyres etc, about 540 parts in total, lovely stuff. I will hopefully do an In Box Review before I build it

Hoping so Jeff. According to the tracking information, it's landed in the U.K. Now, fingers crossed HMRC don't spoil it.

Here's hoping Jeff, I'm banking on your 'considerable influence' with Her Majesty's Postal Service to win through.

Hi brother Gary. According to the parcel tracking it's most recent location is the Parcelforce Depot in Coventry (UK). All being well, I now expect to see it no later than mid next week. Providing the Mods will allow, I will do an in box review before I launch into an inevitable styrene frenzy. Anybody know a good match for Harley Davidson Pearl Silver?

Well while I can't speak for the Mods, I did guilt trip them into giving a sub-forum for Civilian Vehicles in the Review Section. I expect prompt reviews by mid-week

Mence, here's an idea. I did a search of "Harley Dealers UK" and it showed one near Birmingham. I have no idea how close or far that is to you, but maybe you could get in touch with them and see if you could get some official H-D touch up paint? Just a thought

Fine idea Jeff and something a simple creature such as I hadn't thought about!
I have found a couple of shades which should work plus I have a VW colour which is pretty darn close, I just need those fine chaps at Hiroboy to mix it for me.
If all these options fail then your cunning plan may well come into play.

Man, if you're gonna go, go all the way! You've waited for this kit and are really looking forward to it. I would really try to get the right color. I hope Hiroboy can mix it for you. They may not have the formula. H-D is pretty tight about who gets that kind of info. The one thing I can think of that would not work with the H-D paint would be the size of the flake, they might be too big to look good in scale. I'm sure you will figure it out.

Aaah, you're a good man Jeff and you have raised a very valid point, the HD paint would indeed be over scale and probably look wrong.
Unfortunately the colour is not available on the custom paint mixers website so back to original plan.

I'm not surprised that the color is not available. As I said earlier, Harley has always been tight with their paint info I've done 3-4 1/1 HD's in my life and it has always been a major task trying to get their paint formulas. They will sell you all you want of their own factory colors but God forbid you try to mix them on your own
