Moving along... Is it just me or is the lamest way to assemble a model? Why do this? Also wanted to compare this Alclad Gold Titanium on different base coats. Right side is primer only. Left side is Primer, gloss black then paint. Im glad I tested this out. For the wheels I very much prefer the primer only. But it is cool to see what adding the black gloss base does.

It’s always fascinating to me to do spoon tests like that. I really enjoy finding out new ways to change a color of a bottle of paint.

So since this build is essentially my " What if the C7.R was a limited production street car I am making subtle changes that I think would be changed in real life. There is no way you drive on the street in the race cars bucket seat... How are you supposed to get a drink from the local Starbucks drive-thru? So I made a change. Getting closer to color. I would have painted it already but I am nervous haha..

How are oyu supposed to get a drink from the local STarbucks drive-thru? You don't! Cars are not for eating or drinking! That has been my lifelong battle, which by the way, I have essentially lost to my family... Looking good! Get some color on it! Thank, Ismael

If you are going for a street car, have you considered removing or opening the bulkhead? That may also alter the roll cage. How about a second seat?
Thanks, Ismael

Holy Smokes they smell something terrible. Want to research it a bit. But I do want to!

Thank you! I actually found your build before I started my own. When I build the actual race car version, this will be an even better resource but there a few things I want to add that you did. I really like your exhaust. I am not a fan of the way its molded on the kit. Also the small extra's like the tow hook. Thanks Ismael!

Depending on how much you care for accuracy, the kit has the 2016 decals but the car is a 2014-2015 model. Regulatory changes made 2016 cars different. I guess the kit was already been developed and the decals were changed at the last minute after the epic 2016 Daytona win.
Thanks, Ismael

Tamiya LP spray beautifully. I thin them with Mr Color Levelling thinner 50/50. They do smell. I wear a respirator when I spray them.

Thanks, Ismael That I actually knew and I almost bought the correct decals from the same place you did. I also almost bought the full carbon decal set haha. I will only be using a few like for the brakes and wheels and logos.

I love the leveling thinner from Mr. Color so I have plenty of that on hand. Good to know you have sucess with that mixture so I will test it out. What PSI are you spraying with?

Typically around 20 through a 0.5 brush. But I'm no expert. Play around with it and the levelling thinner and you'll find a sweet spot you like.

Roof is back in primer with the extra bits removed and smoothed to math opposite side. Also decided that if this is (in my head) what a C7R street version would be it needs a passenger seat. I removed the battery and water cooler and started filling the holes. It doesn't need to be perfect, because it will be covered by a seat but I want it to be clean. Just need to figure out where to relocate the battery.

Great mods so far. It’s on my list to build a street version of this kit. Will be using your build for inspiration when the time comes. :^)

That's a really nice looking color. I never used the Tamiya lac. in the bottle. Does it get a clear coat?

If you are going for a passenger seat, watch out for roll cage interference.
Thanks, Ismael

project510 , your vette is looking great and I love that blue color. . I Assume you will be thinning it with Mr Color Leveling thinner (AKA Unicorn Tears) ?

If you are going for a passenger seat, watch out for roll cage interference. Thanks, Ismael I just tossed some primer on these so I could paint them first and test fit! project510 , your vette is looking great and I love that blue color. . I Assume you will be thinning it with Mr Color Leveling thinner (AKA Unicorn Tears) ? Thanks! Yes, yes I will be. Going to spray a few spoons to see how the paint likes to be thinned and ran through my air brush. Per the manual for my airbrush I should be at 25 psi... (I would like to mention I just learned that the manual has this info which I learned from here of course) So I want to get it dialed in nice. I probably wont get a ton of work done over the next week. Its lunar new year on the 10th so all my extra time is going to cleaning the house and other things in preparation for that. Plus multiple dinners at family's house.

Did a little test spray last night to see how the color looks, but also see how to spray it. This was a 2:1 paint to thinner ratio at 25 PSI from about 6 inches away. I'm not sure why I am surprised, because I've always like Tamiya paints but this laid down really nice. The color is not as deep blue as I expected, but that could be because of the thinning, and this is only 1 mist coat then a wet coat (I was testing to see if it would run) It really went down nicely. That's a pretty decent gloss coat with 0 clear or polishing. I would have painted the body but this paint smells terrible and it was raining so I couldn't open my garage door for extra ventilation. Clear weather for the next week so hopefully I can get it done.
