Hi all, im just about done with the research now so i thought i might start this, ive still got some bits to buy, like milliput, but i thought id give you the general outline and a bit of history of course !! As i said i am going to try to make this a frozen moment of time, when the point of impact occurs at a joust, i also wanted to make it 2 knights that have actually jousted so making it a factual point of history. there are quite a few details of jousts and tourneys and some give details of the people involved but not many give exact oponents, i have however found one such joust that not only gives the names of the knights involved but the date and time as well and also injuries that were sustained. So i take you back to 1380, when England was at war with France, just about all of the 1300, 1400, and 1500, during a campaign in Beauce France. There was a lull in the fighting on the 26th March 1380 and a squire named Gauvain Micaillie from the garrison of Toury castle, yelled to the English "Is there among you any gentlemen who for the love of his lady is willing to try with me some feat of arms ? If there should be any such, here i am, quite ready to sally forth completely armed and mounted, to tilt three courses with the lance, three with the war axe and three with sword and dagger, now look you English , if there be none among you in love". The challenge was answered by a squire named Joachim Cator who said "I will deliver him from his vow, let him make haste and come from the castle" So there we have our 2 players there are also details of heraldry and type of armour worn, and needless to say England won 1-0 So as soon as the bits get here ill start with the English guy first more to follow, could be a very long one this Paul

As i said guys i still have some bits to purchase so for now ill keep up with the history lesson ;D, Our English hero was the squire to Thomas of Woodstock the 1st Earl of Buckingham, so his heraldic device was a gartered swan in white on a red and yellow quartered background, very colourful, at the time of the joust he was about 21 years old, so in squire terms quite old, but eventually earned his knighthood at the age of 26 and was knighted by sir Henry Percy. Unfortunately his boss, Thomas, was a bit of a bad boy and was one of the Barons that rebelled against Richard 2nd, Thomas was imprisoned in France and was later murdered in his cell, possibly on the orders of Richard. After he was knighted Cator distinguished himself in many other campaigns until he died of a waisting desease, probably cancer, at the age of 46.
So thats our english hero, it is also stated that on the first tilt he hit Micaillie on the thigh smashing his Cuisse plate, a highly frowned upon strike, and causing much tut tutting from the other knights. In his defence he said his horse shied, a likely story. The 3rd tilt is the one where he unhorsed Micaillie where the lance struck the top of the pouldron and onto the helmet so this is the one ill try to depict. Youll all have to excuse the history lesson, I love it, and theres plenty more to follow
all for now
Paul

I absolutely love the whole idea of this one! The specific, historic joust was a pleasantly unexpected twist on an already cool concept:)

Hi all The first pics of the basic horse as it comes, the usual filing to get a half decent fit of the halves and plenty of filler to add later. I imagine this horse to be flat out so im going to do a balancing act and have it on one leg which will be the front right leg, the front left will be straight out in front and the 2 rear legs straight out to the back and the head stretched forward so quite a bit of chopping to do This is a picture somewhat of the heraldry for our hero although the background will be quartered all for now Paul

Not MUCH chopping and changing to do then!!!!! ....How are you gonna show the other horse...just extending off the back legs?..or something more cunning?

Hi all well i hope your settled down then ill begin I thought id start with the head so the first cut was from the chest to the top of the neck and then i basically slit its throat, i cut 2 notches, one at the bottom of the neck for the downward movement of the neck and one at the top of the neck at the head end to allow for the upward movement of the head. once this has been filled the haunch on top of the shoulders will be filed lower and the nech straightened a bit ill do the legs next before i start filling the gaps and then put a pin through the right fore leg all for now Paul

Hi all Boots im glad someone knows what it will look like, just let me know if im going in the right direction jackwagon mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmliver and onions On with the legs, or should i say off with them, front left cut off at the shoulder joint then a cut on the top and the ankle repositioned as well, both rear legs were cut at the rump and an angle cut fron the top then repositioned, the ankle of the rear left leg was changed and the knee joint of the rear right leg altered just the front right leg to pin then put on a temporary base and then all the joints will be filled and shaped all for now Paul
